CALL OUT TO THE OLD GUARD

I wonder how many of the old guard dominant sees the bullshit going on by inexperience’s of dominants on here? Friends let me here from you on this matter, and see if they’re is a way to put an end to it. I have but one voice, but if we all speak out as one there is power in that. I am not here to judge anyone, or try to save the world, I just want to save a lifestyle I love and care about from being destroyed. I know there is many out there that feel as I do, let us talk, and put our voices out there to be heard. Who if not us can speak wisely and knowledgeable, do we just sit back and do nothing at all?  We have no right to bitch if we do nothing to stop this. I would like to here your thoughts on this.

This is a perfect example of how much better real life is.  If I met the OP in real life I could just walk up and vomit all over him.

The only idiots "destroying" BDSM are idiots who fuck women and are under 50 years old and want to claim being something that didn't really exist in the way they pretend it did anyway.

What are you trying to stop first of all, can you define that at least?

And is your position that if one is not "Old Guard" that they have no right to beat their partner silly, love em, have fun and experiment sexually? I do not know what you're trying to prove with this post. Who is ruining your life? And why are you letting them?

A couple of slightly random thoughts:

This is another example of generalizations. It's pretty discriminatory, if you ask me, to proclaim all old people to be better than all young people. I can think of one example, at least, that shows this isn't true.

We're people just like those making up the "old guard". They did crappy things as well as good. We do great things, as well as bad.

If you really want to change things, standing there and telling everyone they're stupid isn't the way to do it. If you want to teach, go out and make nice. You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

~fast reply~

This is off-topic a bit...
being new and "wet behind the ears" I hear a lot of this "old guard" stuff... what does it mean to you? I could look around the internet, but, I'm wondering what does it mean to all of you? thanks, and I look forward to your input... (humor and your wit is most definitely welcome too)...

I get so tired of the BS behind the Gorean lifestyle as much as the "Old Guard" lifestyle..

Forget it.. it is not what you think it is... it did not begin hundreds of years ago in Europe.. It did not begin in a culture with training behind it. It would be nice if it did.. The truth is this... http://www.tdl.com/~thawley/oldgd.html

CALL OUT TO THE OLD GUARD

I wonder how many of the old guard dominant sees the bullshit going on ...

Well MD and Ethicaldom, in the misquoted words of Apollo 13, "Houston, we have a problem."

First off, the term "Old Guard" was coined relatively recently, and is used to refer to gay leathermen who came up in the gay motorcycle clubs that formed after World War II.  MOST of the real "Old Guard" are gone now, and the few remaining ones are going to be leaving us over the next few years.  It's a crying shame because they have a lot of information and history to share with us.  Thank God for the Leather Archives and Museum

Next, the men who really were what _we_ call "Old Guard" don't refer to themselves that way.

So, if I hear a heterosexual male, under the age of about 80, claim he's "an Old Guard" Dominant, unless he belongs to a pansexual munch group or MC that calls itself "The Old Guard" (and I have no doubt some buncha posers somewhere has done it), I'm going to call BULLSHIT in no uncertain terms.

Soooo, what's fucked up about the lifestyle, now?  Straights at the gates?  They let women in?  Anyone with a computer can get access to the one, true, only deadly secret path to Leather Enlightment and BDSM Nirvana?  Someone's let the Secret Handshake outta the bag?  What?

Sorry but I get tired of the "kids are ruining this thing that we do!  We have to protect our precious lifestyle... yada, yada, yada.... whine, bitch, moan..." crap.  I'm 45 years old and I learn good stuff from people half again my age and from people half my age.

The objective here is to learn what works for you and yours, keep an open mind about what works for others, and discard the rest.

And I still want Lucky A to marry me!  Well, okay, bottom for me in a really hot scene... *grin*

And yes, I know, many of you can pick your jaws off the floor, I actually posted something!

YIK,
- Geoff

A lack of Cadbury's eggs would just be wrong.

The interesting thing about "Old Guard" is that most of the folks who WOULD fall into that category - male, gay, of retirement age - are the first ones to say "There is no Old Guard".   Jack Rinella has his utterly priceless essay on the topic if you care to google it.

I raise chickens. The idea of chocolate eggs produces all kinds of cognitive dissonance for me.

thanks for the link, I'm going to have to copy and paste it into something that isn't so hard to read, my eyes are tired... but, just a quick scan over it... is the OP Gay then? His picture is with a woman... though... I'm being serious here (ok, slightly sarcastic )... I love gay men as friends, I mean no offense whatsoever, but, how does it become this whole "hollier than though" kind of thing in applying it to straight men? It's roots are from the gay scene of the 40's and 50's then...
