missturbation -> Love or Lust !! (2/7/2007 10:05:15 AM)

'When i meet an attractive woman and fall in love with her, there is no difference between my own aim and that of the man who desires her without any love whatsoever. We both want to go to bed with her. But whereas he only wants her body, I, because of a false and dangerous metaphysic - and blinding myself to my genuine motive, which is precisely that of my rival - persuade myself that i simply want her heart......'
Quote from Justine by the Marquis de Sade.

This made me giggle - i know i've confused lust and love many many times.
Got me thinking though about the different approaches i took to deal with the realisation it was lust not love and now i'm curious to know how others dealt with the realisation ?
Also curious how we make the same mistake repeatedly - to confuse lust and love? (or is it only me that has done it more than once!?!)

Lust is your girl all dolled up and you cant wait to get your hands on her..
Love is when she's wearing her "fat" pants and you come up behind her and grab her like shes a Vicky Secrets girl

Lust is you girl gets ready for bed and wears something silky
Love is accepting those plaid sweats cause shes cold

I do not think I have made this mistake often to be honest. Telling someone I love them takes me time, it is not something that I say casually.  I do not see lust and love to be that far apart from each other to be honest. I can still say the handful of men I thought I loved in the romantic sense, well part of me still loves them in a distant sort of way. Even though I do not tell men I love them often or readily at first, it is not because the feelings were not there for a while, it is just that when you tell someone you love them the term is loaded with expectations, and when I say it I do not want them to feel that I have an expectation placed on them. To me real love is without expectations of anything, it is a feeling I own, not something I project on to someone else. I have felt that way since I was young. I hope I did not ramble too much[:)]

you...you mean you only LOVE me!? GRRRRRR come on misst can you really not make the distinction between love and lust, one is a pure emotion and one is a desire.

sleazy -> RE: Love or Lust !! (2/7/2007 10:54:16 AM)

I feel it best to quote someone else

Love is that feeling when the happiness and well-being of another is essential to your own

Although I am in total agreement with Stern on this too.

Julia - I agree with this and think maybe this is where my downfall has been in the past. I don't tell men i love them easily either and ive managed so far lol to avoid telling someone falsely.

FukinTroll -> RE: Love or Lust !! (2/7/2007 11:37:08 AM)

It's pretty easy for me. I have a list.

1. Can you wake up every morning with this bitch on your arm without wanting to chew it off?
2. After hours of conversation am I enthralled in her words or wondering how much it would cost to have her vocal cords severed.
3. Am I thinking of how nice she is or how nice I will make her.
4. Wow this bitch is fucked in the head.
à   In a scary way.
à   In a good way
5. Is she wearing dentures because she had her teeth extracted to excel in her oral skills or did they just rot away.
6. When I say don’t breathe does she give up or pass out.
7. Does she think the word Fuck is a conjunction.
8. Does she look good in heels.
9. Can she edit a book.
10. Being a submissive can she Dom the hell out of a punk on the street.
Depending on the answers I know if it is love or lust.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Love or Lust !! (2/7/2007 11:41:56 AM)

Because they don't give themselves enough time before making their final decision.

Love and lust will always sort themselves out in time.  The question is, why do people not give it time before making a decision?

4. Wow this bitch is fucked in the head.

No. This is exactly what i have been trying to figure out about my feelings in that last couple of weeks. Finally in words! Thank you.

I always put my feeling in three catagories....lust, infatuation, and love. Trust me there are diffs. It would take me months before i say i love someone, because to me love is only something that grows from a healthy relationship. Now infatuation...that is when i have found someone that there just seems to be something great about them and us together. But lust, well....once all the physical has happened, i wakeup the next morning and want to kick them out. (Now that i have completely made myself sound like a slut, LOL.)

Love or lust is not a time issue for me.
I've fallen in love quickly and slowly and same for lust.
Made mistakes about which i was in both slowly and quickly too.

Crikey. So Adrian coming up behind me and grabbing me while I'm washing up, means he loves me?

I thought it was 'cause he was pissed (drunk) and a bit short sighted and desperate.

E

edited because you Americans just have no idea how versatile "pissed" is, in real English!

Thats because you listen to Alanis Morisette.

michaelOfGeorgia -> RE: Love or Lust !! (2/7/2007 12:02:06 PM)

if i had a choice between love and lust...i'd choose love because it's not as easy to find as lust. therefore that makes it a more valuable item to have.
