There is a show on TV where a woman is hosting a show where 12 guys have to chase her and compete for her affections. I guess the idea is that ultimately she chooses the best one. She is behaving like she is all that and a bag of chips. And maybe a candy bar and Coke on the side. Are guys really that desperate? Like seriously? Interestingly enough she was on two shows where she was competing for the affections of a man and both men told her sorry, but no thanks. Personally I would just tell her to go fuck herself and walk away. But that is just me.

Its no different from the reality shows like The Batchelor where 12 women compete to date a man who thinks he's all that. No matter the sex of the people involved, its fairly pathetic.

Would you compete for a woman? We all compete for women in one way or another. Everything we do is subconsciously geared towards finding a mate. The music we listen to, the clothes we wear, the politics we identify with etc. Consciously, if she is worth the effort, then yes I would make the effort and if that includes competing then so be it. Mind you, there is competing and then there is making a show of yourself as per the original post. Everytime you're charming a woman, you can bet someone else is having a crack at her so in effect you are competing. No woman is going to come to you willingly without making the effort. You have to charm her and show her you're worthy of her respect. There's no such thing as something for nothing in this life. You've got to be in it to win it and while you're sat waiting for them to come to you someone else is out there getting stuck in and taking the prize.

Its a TV show. In the real world though, men do compete for women's attentions - even in our office where everyone is either married or involved, I watch it happening. There's no chance of any sex (its quite a small office), but I see how the guys jockey for position with one another to assume "alpha male" status, and how damned different they are to the women; seemingly at least, trying to impress. Mind you, similar happens from the other side, but in a different way. I dont think it means anyone is desperate so much, its just natural human interaction. We had an incident a while back, when one of the guys (who basically has no chance whatever anyway, on account of being unpleasant as well as ugly), was shouting at one of the women over some error she'd made - an understandable error, given the intricacies of operating trucks and trailers 24/7. Two of the guys wanted to punch him out over that, in their own words, for treating her that way. I will place any bet you might like now, that had it been a guy being bawled out, there would have been snickering rather than a will to intervene and defend a woman. Add into such interactions the possibility of reproduction, and I think we'd really see the gloves off in the whole competition thing - on both sides. E

I would never compete on a program like that. But in my mid to late twenties.... I guess you could say in real life I've been part of a competition before. Hell....I've been in out-and-out throw downs over women.....but those were the most foolish times in my life that I would never let happen again. I agree with my Subfever.... I think folks who immerse themselves in reality TV are nincompoops, with too much time on their hands. I'd like to see Homeland Security make it illegal to watch them [8\|] - R

reality shows are getting ridiculous these days. at first it was new and inventive - now everyone even regular joe types have a reality show. i've seen a couple of episodes you're talking about and i agree she's not worth the hassle to win her affection. however i know reality shows aren't going away because most of the viewing public are voyuers at heart and the networks know they will keep coming back for more every week. i don't think one reality show match has concluded with a "happily ever after" relationship. i probably would watch a reality show if it was BDSM-related.

Putting aside the Tv show which i would never in a million years do, people do stupid stuff to get on tele these days i think. I can help but think in every day life, that if there is a number of people that are competing for some one's affections, then that some one obviously has no interest in the competitors but rather what can be gain for the competition. Because of this, there would probably be no conclusion to the competition as that would not be with in the interestes of the person being competed for. I'm not saying this would always be the case. but i've seen this happen a number of occasions some one stringing a number of people along for there own advantage. I wouldn't want to put my self into the position of having some take advantage of me. Although i do get the impression that in general there is a kind of social competition, where a bloke is made to feel that there is certain things that have to be done to obtain a womens affections.

I noticed a % of perfect men have small penises. they know this- so emphasize other traits- like charm, manners, sending roses, or boasting and bragging when its all hot air. To the OP. our local pub has had more then 1 stabbing over a fight for a lady. ild say about every 6 weeks- a stabbing, fistfight, or simmilliar occurs for the prized lady. On the flip side: ive seen cat fights over a man. putting sugar in gas tanks- calling in a "report" to children and youth --- as for the movie stars- they are paid. teh actors guild is one of the 2 unions. to appear- you get x amount of $. every spoken line you get paid x amount of $. notice how tv shows like mtv real life will blur out faces. well those folks were not paid- and did not sign the release form. would you make a fool of your self for a few days- if it paid off your car/student loan/ 2nd mortgage ???? yup,.

Wow.. I found some of the responses to the OP's question downright fascinating! My own answer: Yes, of course I would, under the right circumstances and for the right person. Anyone, or anything worth having is worth competing/fighting for. N'est ce pas? Amazed as I am that others wouldn't feel the same way, (I recognize that we all have differing tastes/preferences/priorities) I wonder why someone wouldn't compete/fight for someone truly desireable... Is it fear of failure?
