Status: offline 		You could eat as much food as you like,and drink as much champange as you like,i think it would be a good idea.Ofcourse Collarme.com would pay for it all initally,.Then they would get there money back,by making this a paid site.It would be really lovely i think to be able to meet and greet so many of you at the party from the Collarme.com site.As it's really lovely to be able to put a name to a face.

Status: offline 		There is nothing whatever stopping you from organising such a party.

Find a hotel, talk to them about it; get a date booked up and some rooms reserved. Then spread the word and sell tickets to finance it. Might have to be in the US though, as the membership is mainly US based it seems.

Why Collarme should finance it or organise it, is beyond me. They are operating a website (for free) not running social get togethers. Its a business thing - core activities where one has the expertise and resources vs ancillary stuff where one doesnt and could get burned.

Why expect CM to do it?  You could organize a party yourself and post the  info here. Everyone waits for someone ELSE to do it.  It's called a "munch"

Status: offline 		what's with this "let's make CM a paid site"? sure, i'd go to a party like this, but not if it meant ruining a good thing. if people wanna give CM money, by all means, get froggy and send them money. that doesn't mean we all have to, does it?

Status: offline 		Why does everyone all of a sudden want to make this a paid site?  Ive seen it popping up a lot lately.

CM is a tool for us to meet. Some of us are very thankful it is free, or we woudnt have been here, and had we not been here we wouldnt have met our significant others.

Would I go to a CM party, absolutely! Would I expect the site to actualy have anything to do with organizing it... no. Aside from giving me a way to announce its whereabouts, I dont see why the site management would really care whether or not we got together.

If your concerned with funding, or rental of space, then organize it and ask for an entry fee to help cover costs.  Or, bring your own dish for a pot luck instead of catering.  A CM munch woud probably draw quite a few people... but dont hold your breath for the site to arrange it.

i like DV's idea for a pot luck instead of caterering.

Yes, there are people here that I would love to meet. No, I don't want the people that provide this site to foot the bill or go thru the hassle of trying to arrange said party.

You want a party, you take care of the details and let us know. We will decide if we want to bother getting there.

Status: offline 		There are many BD/SM scene events around the country and some in parts of the world other than N. America too. These vary from simple camp outs to major hotel/resort spaces, from cruises to weekend parties, from inexpensive to very expensive.
All of the regional or national events I know of have an admission fee required. This is needed to rent the spaces and cover insurance, security and so forth.
Most have brought in well known speakers to give classes, skilled people to do demonstrations, staff to monitor play at the event and good venders to display and sell toys, kinky garb, etc. This involves costs. Usually room and board are additional costs. Often we've seeen that sometimes we get what we pay for, and low budget events are not necessarily the best.
Many events give "scholarships", price breaks to those who agree to work a certain number of hours at the event.
I might attend a CM event with my friends and my partner if the date was right, the location worked for me and the price was acceptable. I attend a number of midwest US events each year and from time to time something further away.
Often simple social group or discussion group meetings of a few hours with no play may have no attendance fee required, but usually donations are still necessary for the group to operate very long.

Status: offline 		I am hoping the OP made the post in jest, smiles, I think(hope) he did.  As far as the paid site thing, someone resurrected a VERY old thread and everyone jumped on it.  I have been to other parties from other sites, even organize a monthly one for another site, and they are a BLAST!!!!!!! I have not seen enough members in my general location to try to organize one here, unfortunately a lot of the awesome members on here do not live in the bible belt as I do, sighs........

I would go, maybe. There are several people I would love to chit chat with face to face. But I have found that most of those people are either in the UK or 4 states over from me.
