I've taken clients out and I've taken clients to Paddles and I know people who do only outcall (although I never cared for outcall unless it's with someone I'm already established with). I've rented dungeon space but prefer to work in my own space. Usually when I took someone out for an evening the expenses of the evening were in addition to the session tribute, we just negotiated a flat rate that usually amounted to a couple of hours and they picked up the tabs. I never had anyone complain about this, as it usually meant they got an entire evening of my attention, instruction and perhaps chastisement and/or play for the cost of a few hours. It's up to the participants. Do you just want to do a wax play scene or are you considering letting the bugger hang around all evening and keeping him blissfully hopping and in step? Be ready for him to want to hang out afterwards playing step and fetch'it and/or massaging her feet, or not. It's all up for negotiation. See, you may have quoted a price before you did a thorough interview or considered your labor and expenses. [;)] I'd love to meet E as well as see you again soon. I will be up close to you guys the early part of next month, perhaps a meet can occur then?

If, as Suz suggested, you make a trip to Paddles part of a paid "night out", then you could probably get away with it. If you're going to try to exchange money there, I'd suggest you be very surreptitious and don't let people know that's what's going on.

That hadn't occurred to me, but I can certainly understand it. I suppose it never occurred to me because I never did it. I usually got the business clear and out of the way long before the festivities began.

Taggard, meet the sponge. He's from the left coast, has never been a ds club in his life, and cried the first time he saw someone get flogged (in a hotel room) because it was 'so beautiful.' He's bright but not incredibly experienced in wiitwd and tends to try too hard to be funny (perhaps that's just my perception). He's also well meaning and could offer you a lot of good advice about real estate, business finance, marketing and sales. But he ain't got his finger to the pulse of the scene or NYS laws. Jerkyboy, meet Taggard. Taggard is a gentleman, good conversationalist, excellent dancer and a thinker. He has nice table manners, too. ;)

it occurs to me though, couldnt you cut the competitions feet out from under them, by charging much less than the normal exuberant amount, while still making a comfortable sum doing something you like to do?

Yes/no. There's really only so far you can go down in prices before it becomes more work than it's worth. It's not just an hour together, it's prep, it's clean up, it's high risk. Also, many pro's have those rates because they've earned them and they ARE competitive. They have regulars who aren't likely to switch over (while there's lots of floaters always up for grabs, once a person has a connection, they are unlikely to stray). And the long time ones will have lots of references so new people can be assured of security. If you're starting out, lower pricing might help some, but since you would be starting out without a solid client base, it's best just to be competitive. It's a service industry just like any other, just a lot higher risk.

He actually gets a lot of responses to those 'Odes,' some more empathetic than others. Like you, I don't really see that profile (and others like it) as a true attempt to connect with new people. He would probably disagree and say they are simple statements of fact. He is a guy who dances to his own tune. He's often a pain in the ass but usually worth the trouble (although I do not recommend him for the woman who is not quite firm with her boundaries). I agree with him that he is most often simply misunderstood. He's a good friend. As I have mentioned in another thread - "Liquid Family."

In NYC that was the main reason I rarely came, just coming in from NJ it would cost me a chunk just to get in. There are good reasons to pay for a private session. But it does always amaze me how many people are willing to pay so much for what I know they could get for pretty much the same as a normal date. But that's good news for the service providers.
