Dear kate, Ladies and Gentlemen; As far as suggestions go, I wish I could send you my mother's cooking as it would be something for the thumb to host and would repell you most well indeed. Cotton gloves may work better than rubber gloves but, I would make an effort to try all sorts of gloves. Putting a splint on both thumbs, tape it off may be of some assistance. PVC pipe, or place into a tube and tape it off. Try anything that iscolate the thumbs. Since there is something that needs to replace the mouth association, suck on some ice, suck on a carrot stick, apple--a straw. Perhaps knitting or taking up the art of making lace, which requires the hands to remain busy--you can learn a much needed art craft. The art of glove making is not exactly flowing with quality craftsman. Perhaps something else rewarding may take the place of the old habit. Just some thoughts. Respectfully submitted for consideration, Lady Hugs
