Gorean girls,

That will be just about enough. Check with your owners, but I'm sure they will find  it is rediculous to sit here and defend yourselves to those that find their entertainment in your ridicule. The OP asked a fair and worthwhile question, but now those that would in the end resort to childish posts and attacks to confuse and prevoke you into making statements they can caste their spin on is, as always coming to the forefront. The men of Gorean beliefs have no need for the slaves to be here defending our ways. Leonidas had some very enlightening posts for our counterparts not long ago in the Ask a Mistress forums, if they wish to understand us, let them read the books or study the threads that have logical adult conversation. It is enough to clean up after men that have much to learn, but you girls have a place and it is not here fighting with the natives.

Serve well,

Bull

So that is my point.  Imaginative sex as described by Amazon.com:  <snip>

You are a gentle flamer, Stephan.  [:)]

The most surprising part about all this is the price that these books go for.  Imaginative Sex is among the most pricey.  I'm not looking for a bargain (I've already ordered what I want), but I wondered if folks know that some of their Norman books may be collectibles.

Stephann -> RE: what makes Gor special? (2/15/2007 6:44:10 AM)

Moi? (grins)

Though in fairness, I wasn't flaming you.  I only saw the statement about the high prices, and figured I'd offer advice on how to find them for less.

It might help to know you're talking to a man who lives on less than most women spend on their wardrobe.  Thrift isn't just a hobby, it's a way of life for me.

My apologies for my lack of clarity.  I was referring to your post on Amazon.

Sure you don't mean 'obey1'?  That's the fellow you quoted [;)]

I do tend to flame gently, though.  I try not to say anything I wouldn't feel comfortable saying to an old friend.

Gets better, I think mixie.

xBullx -> RE: what makes Gor special? (2/15/2007 9:31:37 AM)

Hello Mary,

Hi agian. I want to ask you something quick. Do you live with sugar and spice and everything nice? (lol) Do take that in the context it is intended. I am kidding you. To your point of order. No, I am not always a nice fellow, in fact I can be down right vicious at times, but to use some words from my Suess (as eluded to here) like books; though strict, I am seldom cruel. Now when you wish to break down one of my messages it is normally best to leave it in it's true context and by leaving parts out you destort the content. I told the girls that would be enough. I also told them to speak to their owners. I didn't excerise free reign over someone elses property, Goreans do however in most cases tend to sheppard unguarded strays of the flock. It's a home stone thing. More book material. Also, don't assume that I meant their place was in the Gorean forum. A slave's place is at the feet of her master. Maybe that will help to understand the way my mind works.

Your right the girl did run back in here and have to keep at it. But, I'm sure at some point her owner will see what she did and she might soon recall the feel of his leather. But she is his to do with as he pleases. My objected was however achieved the night in question. As I said the OP created a valid topic and while it for the most part was civil and folks seemed to be learning about eachother I even enjoyed it myself. But then some chose to begin mocking our ways and the girls, they had no object but to entertain themselves with dicontent. You know if left as it was it would have soon grown worse. You have been around long enough to know that. I was attempting to remove the fuel from the fire in hopes that rational dialogue could resume and it appears it has. Even if the tricksters remain, some seem to have came to an understanding with one another.

Can I be condescending? I suppose. Can I be overbearing? I suppose. Can I be an outright prick? I have even been accused of that. But I am actually working to be a better man. And to live in a better understanding of what all things and people are even if they differ from me. Is that wrong? to some, perhaps.

Sorry about the delay in response and for any grammar faults, I was on the road most of the day and night and I am typing this before a nap. You seemed worth the time .

I wish you a wonderful day,

Bull

This is the best answer I've gotten to my question. Thank you. I still don't understand....

Aha!  I now see that you are what the vanilla world would call a 'shit starter'.  You have some kind of vendetta.

Sometimes Gor claims to be different from BDSM.

And you are right there in the midst of it each and every time, ever caring that they would do that sometimes.  What a wonderful watchdog you are!

If Gor was different BDSM, then the men wouldn't be seeking slaves almost exclusively.

Excuse me?  That sentence makes no sense in either world.  You could have said that for plantation owners before the civil war.  You do not understand Gor 'only passing'.  How can you make this assumption or conclusion?  And how can you make the same assumption/conclusion about what you are seeing in BDSM?

Aquatic,

I have hopped around trying to find the source of your discontent.  It seems your biggest pet peeve is that somehow Gor does not mention male subs to the same degree they talk about female slaves.  What is your interest in defending male subs as an ideal?  You are not a male sub.  Valyraen is not a male sub.  Who are you defending and who shit in your wheaties?  You come across an online population whom you gravitate towards and seek out the handful of posters who have something disparaging to say about male subs and then label the entire Gorean community as intolerant biggots.  And you keep picking these fights over and over.  Then someone gives you the 'best' answer you have recieved, on the BDSM side of CM, and you retreat back into lack of understanding.  Then once again your lack of understanding becomes the measure by which things are 'good' and 'bad' in your mind.

In that sense, by your own criteria of explaining something to my standards so I can give my approval of it......I don't understand you!

I'm very sorry if I've come across as a shit stirrer to you. However, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I really do respect Goreans and I'm certainly not meaning to start fights.

Why would I feel the need to defend male subs? Why do you have to ask? Do you have to belong into group "XYZ" to defend them or feel they are being wronged?

Honestly, I don't require or seek your approval. I ask questions because I have a genuine desire for the answer. I've learned a lot from this thread and I appreciate the Goreans who took the time to answer. Most of the people who know me in the real world don't understand me. I don't expect you, sitting somewhere behind a computer, to, and your not understanding doesn't trouble me. Thank you for the discussion. [:)]

Hi,

The reason I suggested you go and ask in the Gorean forum(never mentioned you offering an opinion on anything over there) was because you made a sweeping generalization about Goreans that is not true. I thought you might want to know if it was an accurate picture of them that you hold....but whatever. I don't think it much matters in the big scheme of things.

Which was the sweeping generalization? Like I said, I have peeked over there and have read some of the threads. What I've read there has prompted what I've said. I will freely admit I could have only read the threads are a bad representation of Gor as I have no way of telling which threads are BS and which are correct, if you understand what I mean.

Any "philosophy" that wants to use as pillars the notions that  men are better than women and that all women want to serve as sex slaves to men has a rather weak foundation.

My impression of it is that it is a useful tool for predators who prey on people who have not yet learned to distinguish between someones words and someone's deeds.

I've only read a few posts from you but I like you already :)

Hey, leave the romance novels out of this! Some of the best ones are based on the "outcast independent smart woman meets pigheaded man who changes his opinion as he realized that women can actually think". Of course the very best ones are the ones where he remains dominant and then they do wicked things. [:D]

Thank you!  My publisher specializes in "smart smut" for people who think and like to think.  I'd like to think that when my book comes out it'll have the same effect.  ;)

I think this is a good example of why things just don't go to rest or die. So many times a thread begins to calm down and ideas are not so jagged, then someone *NOT just fyreredsub, just an example here * sees older comments & the rancor begins again.
Reading just 'RE: what makes Gor special?' is
inflammatory by nature and automatically puts Goreans on the defense. I don't personally think that Gor is more special than any other way of living, I think that it is a more rigid, enforced & aware way of living. It is more self concious. Sigh I am unsure of my wording here lol.
Gor has a host of books to rely upon, to quote from & to emulate. That to me is what the biggest difference is, they pretty much have a guide to live by.
As for lurking in their forum? Well I have learned a lot. I had the typical feeling of Gor=Yuck, resulting from idiots in chat rooms. For years that had been my only exposure aside from reading the first five or so books as a teen. But watching and reading their forum made me see them in a different way.
I see their slavery in a different way. It used to 'look' degrading and pretty awful all the way around. By reading there for months I finally managed to get that view turned around.
It is foolish and time consuming to continue the battle of the WIITWD between Gor n BDSM'ers. They are not the same.
They share a lot of similarities.
I liken it to different factions of christianity. The same underlying concept (power exchange) but just practiced differently. Very differently lol. Thats a good thing!

Viva la difference [:D]

Oh, Magdalena156... yes it is incentive lol.

yeah yeah IMO only.

Well researched and well written books with plot.  Some of them fantasy, some historical, some science fiction.

Mine falls under the category of dark fantasy along with paranormal romance and vampire erotica.  And if you like magick and the occult, that's a nice bonus there too.  There's also enough real life occult geekery in there to make anybody happy.

Very interesting... I've read a lot of romance novels and most of them had plots that I was at least somewhat interested in. My favorites were the ones that really tried to be historically accurate.

Greetings,

Sorry but that was the best description that could be thought of when reading page 4 and one doesnt know something has died down till they keep reading and inflammation certainly was NOT intended.

Wishing you well

KatyLied -> Being a kajira, no thanks (2/15/2007 11:41:48 AM)

A short time after I signed on at collarme a Dom or Master or Gore guy asked if I wanted to be trained as a kajira.  Um, that wasn't special.
