I received an abusive message from a member that I think was triggered from something I wrote here. I reported and blocked the user. Does this mean the user will be asked to get off the site? Is there anything more I should do? It was mostly "vulgarity" about my views. So much for intellectual discourse...

I don't really know cuz I've never reported anyone, but I've blocked a few.  I wouldn't worry about it.  You'll get more....

Blocked, you won't see him. Put off the site well that depends on violation of TOS.
I'm still learning to ignore, breathe deeply & not react to them. It seems the best way to go.

I know. It was a bit of a shock because it was probably about a feminist-submissive thing I was discussing on the sub thread. an offended feminist? ugh.

thanks :)

... if you've blocked and reported, leave any action up to the site moderators and just keep the block in place.

If you run across this person in the forums, avoid the temptation to engage in any back-and-forth.

The block button is your friend. The report button is great if the person really goes over the line.

Have to agree with the others, just block em.  I had one that would send nasty mail about my hair and the need to find myself a new hairdresser!  You can't be loved by everybody.  Just take it with a grain of salt.

Yes, just block them....Every day I get responses from women who don't apreciate my responses to the forums or who just view me as nothing more than a piece of meat or "arm candy."....It is so dehumanizing!!

You have to look at it objectively. The worse the message, the better I look. So those bozos are doing me a favor really. I don't have to try hard to look so great!

I'm not sure how a random email can be "abusive"

But really, when it comes to the net, read what you like, laugh at and ignore the rest.

LA LA, I think she may be sensitive because she is very new. It feel's abusive to her, which is good enough for me.

Ive gotten plenty of off-forum messages expressing their dislike of my opinions.
Witty comeback, delete, block if necessary.
I personally always respond, at least.  "When your opinion affects me, I'll let you know.  For now, your wasting malbox space."
Everyone is enttled to their opinion, ad their opinion OF my opinion.  That doesnt mean I necessarily appreciate being emailed privately so that they can voice them in language they cannot use in the forums.  Either that or they think there are so many people that would agree with you and flame them that they wouldnt brig it into the forums.
Dont let them get in the way of enjoyable banter.  No matter where you are, theres always someone who wants to, as it was so well put in a few of the other forums, "piss in your sandbox".

This is a great system.  You can go from a forum post to a private e-mail with a click.  Laugh and ignore.

novicecourtesan,

Your photo is one of the best I've seen on the site, your profile is outstanding, and your intellect is sparkling. I really can't doubt that your biggest problem here is going to be getting through the messages and finding the ones that pique your interest and could lead to the relationship you are looking for. Some will want to shoot you down for whatever reason, or make light of the feelings and opinions you express -- my speculating on their motives would be amateur psychology -- but I hope you can let the hurt pass by quickly when it happens. The ones who want to tear you down don't expend much energy to do it; don't let them rob you of yours.

Hello and welcome novicecourtesan, you did the right thing.  There are a few nut cases here that get angry when someone
has and voices a difference in opinion.  Don't let that get you down.
I hope to see more of you.

I agree try to avoid the back and forth.  Many here love to argue, for the sake of arguing.
This is a free and open forum, don't let anyone stifle you.

You have to be new here.  There will always be someone seomwhere that gets pissed about something you've said.  By writing this I'm likely making someone mad as we speak.  Block and move on with your life.  Don't reply to them, you'll just fuel their ignorance.  It's basically just a matter on growing thicker skin.  Have a nice day.  Good luck in all your endeavors here on CM.
