On principle and from experience, whenever I open a small would, my male Malamute licks the wound which is just something hard wired into his DNA. The small wounds heal twice as fast as a similar one treated by normal first aid. Notably wolves have this healing ability as noted by people who have lived with a wolf pack. A DNA profile shows that my boy's great, great grand dam mated with a wolf and thus the genes are still there. Similarly when wet he doesn't smell like a wet dog but like a wet wolf.. Western medicos (local GP and so on) just shake their heads but then I always prefer natural and alternative medicine where possible.
