This is actually a very good thread, i was simply just going to come in with 'How to get called names : write another zero common sense thread like "my Mistress wants me to clit my throat, what do i do?"' as there seems to be way too many painfully stupid topics here (not including mine which are already in the stupid section).. Now i understand the thread id add to it 1.Asylum in the UK and Europe.... they ...i mean IT needs to be stamped out. (CENSORED) 2.Death penalty 3.Genetically modified....stuff.

The first two are widely discussed here in the States. More in terms of immigration than asylum for the first. Does mentioning the topic bring a charge of Rascism before a case can be offered? We have the death penalty and it's hotly debated from time to time, the current tactic by opponents is that lethal injection might be painful. Genetic modification isn't a blood boiler, but you are absolutely right, it isn't talked about. Corporate influence/ownership of the mass media quelling it perhaps? There are a very small number of corporations that control a LOT of the media outlets here.

Thought of this thread at a dinner party tonight! We were talking about John Kerry's recent gaffe--telling students to study and do well so that they didn't wind up in Iraq--and how it touched such a raw nerve. It's definitely a no-no in American society to suggest that lack of other options just might play a role in why some folks end up in the service. It brought to mind Michael Kinsley's famous definition of a gaffe as when a politician accidentally tells the truth.
