Status: offline 		The only stropping definitions I know  are that it is a part of knife sharpening.
It is also has to do with letter sequences.

to the best of my knowledge,'Stropping' is just a good ass- walloping, with a 'strop' -a heavy broad leather strap of the sort used for polishing a razors edge.

Status: offline 		Stropping is the final sharpening stage for items such as straight edge razors.  One sharpens a knife or razor with an abrasive.  Under a microscope though the edge generally curves away from the sharpening stone, leaving a curl.  Stropping is using, usually a jeweler's rouge (red iron oxide) and pulling the knife or razor backwards to remove this curl.  Done properly the knife or razor can be lightly scraped forward against the hair of the arm, and it should act as a razor does, removing the hair cleanly but not cutting.

Simply find a smooth piece of leather, or even a flat leather belt and some jewelers rouge.  Barbers have the strop (leather strip with rouge) often attached to the wall, so they can pull it taunt, and then strop the razor a few times away from the sharp edge, essentially polishing the very edge and making it razor sharp.

Oh my....my bad.. Exqueeeeeeeeeeeeeeesme me....heck rub her all over with jewelers rouge and strap her with the strop....Strip 'er, then Strop her, Stripe her then fuck her...

Just look on Ebay under Strop, buy one and go at it....

Status: offline 		the only time i have heard of this is from my maternal unit, she tells how her grandmommy, my great-grandmommy used to "strop" her when she would misbehave, meaning spank or beat her with the aforementioned razor strop...  and the result is akin to a severe belting...  but that's third hand info, don't take my word for it

It's used the same way a belt is used, except with a strop. Maybe it's a southern thing, but stropping is very popular amongst the parent of brats where I come from in Texas. As for what makes it pleasing, that's completely subjective. For many it 'won't' be pleasing, for masochists and others, they would enjoy it for the same sorts of reasons they would enjoy getting beat with a leather belt.

I have to agree to what has been posted, with the exception of SimpleMichael's stabbing comment.
 
The razor strap is very stout and has it's own 'voice' if you will when using it as a paddle and or strap.
 
Those who enjoy the "Victorian" flavor of D/s and or M/s; will use things like the strop as much as they will use a straight edge razor, not a safety razor which most are accustom to. 
 
Because it was a common household item, which hung in the bath chambers and where men would be shaved by their man servant and or butler; for disciplinary reasons the strap was handy, just as handy for a Victorian woman to discipline with the sole of her shoe and or her hairbrush.

Status: offline 		Odd- never had it used on me and I've never seen anyone use it, but I knew exactly what it was.  No idea how that tidbit of info got into my brain.

I can get into belting someone, but unless someone handed me a strop and a heavy masochist, I probably wouldn't ever try it myself.

Status: offline 		Yep the folks that mentioned it as a spanking with a razor strop have it right. Think of a belt spanking and then extrapolate to something thcker and wider, but just as supple.

Aside from the handle area, it's 13" in length, 2 1/2" in width.

VERY hard leather.  When you swing it, it will flex from the speed used, but on it's own, if it could it would stand up straight.

In the paddle family, but longer with that slight flexibility.  Also, not as thick as a paddle.

Yep- sounds like it. usually has an eye on one end, a handle on the other, and one side leather, one side cloth.
 
impact wise, somewhere between a strap and a paddle.

Status: offline 		Actually, you can do impact play with a knife (and not stab!). You turn the blade so you hit the bottom with the flat of it. It's a neat way to shake up a knifeplay scene, but I don't regard it as useful as an impact technique in its own right. You can also hit with the hilt, if it's long enough. But I've never known it to be called stropping.

( a piece of semi flexable used leather about 3 inches wind and 24 ish inches long)
