its just too trite. i would like to see more long black or purple fingernails.and not fake ones. Ugh, fake ones. hate fake stuff

I like medium-length nails.  They are more practical and they are different enough to denote a feminine quality in comparison to male nails.  I have to admit that I am more fond of the red or pink shades, not wild about brown or tan.  As for neutral colors...eh, I am not a big fan.  My ex took care of her nails but never bothered to put any polish other than clear on and I grew tired of it.  My own quirk...perhaps because it was what my ex did that makes me less than fond of it now.  ~s~

My natural nails are a pain in my ass, and I've not had any success in growing them. But well done artificial nails of medium length are a pleasure, and can be useful when working with small beads and sewing. They make handy scoops and thimble.
Pink, brown, red.... I wouldn't be caught with. Black, or, given the proper attire, alternating black and white, only. On rare special occasion, when a costume called for it, I have been known to do blue.  Black, with an offset white rhinestone on the tip is my preferred style. I'm wearing black right now.

I prefer a woman which likes to change nail colors, nice well done ones.  Not too short not too long.  Long enough to exert pain, short enough to be practical for massages.  One time I felt like I was with Wolverine from the X-Men on a date, yes here nails were that long. So long that she would use nail wraps.  Her nails were so long that the only thing they were good for, was for caressing the body.  Too long to apply pain, too long to give a deep body massage.  Long natural nails do not equate to delivery of pleasure or pain.  More of a conversation or attention starter.

I have seen some creative artish nail work.  Use of multiple colors and designs and even decals.  It's amazing too the things which can be glued on nails besides fake nails.  I enjoy seeing creative things which provoke my mind.  Long black or red hooker nails tend to bore me after awhile... yeah, yeah, yeah... show me something which I am not expecting or never seen.  Then you have my attention.

Female hands are a personal favourite and I esp appreciate well kept nails.  Definitely something I'd tick off on things that define "feminine".  As for polish, any colour is fine by me - as long as it generally suits the wearer and occasion.

But those awful glue on things are absolute shockers and as unsexy (to me) as tattoos and body-piercings!  While on the subject, can anyone tell me why the fake nails have a virtually square profile instead of radiused because that particularly peeves me about them?

I do my own pedicures and manicures - almost obsessively.  I only use about 3 different colors because i'm also a believer that nails should be, at the very least, the same shade as your lipstick.  I love red lipstick but am not allowed to wear it so that leaves out the red nail polish.

My nails are real but i actually like them squared off as opposed to rounded.  I always thought they looked a bit classier but after reading some of the comments - i actually may rethink that.

Just a footnote - i'm actually wearing my most favorite summer color in my profile pic.

I WISH I could have longer natural nails. When I was younger, they peeled in layers like an onion - well past the quick and would bleed all the time. I had babies and everyone said that the pre-natal vitamins would do wonders for my nails. They did wonders for my hair but my nails continued to peel. I was told that AFTER I was done having babies they'd get stronger. They peeled. I was told that a good manicure would fix me right up. They peeled.

So, finally, I opted for spending the money for good acrylic nails. I looked a long time before I found a nail tech that had the expertise to make sure they were thin enough to look real and thick enough to last for two weeks. She also knew how to do the oval shaped nails because I also hate the squared off looks even though those are the strongest shape to have.

I made sure while I was looking to find out - AHEAD OF TIME - if the techs use gromits or not (those are the drills with the different sized heads). I refused to go to someone who uses gromits and I refuse to go to someone who air brushes. Some of the techs I've been to have tried to convince me that their way was better. I always responded that my view of better was based on their experience, not their expediency.

Using the drills to do what filing can do is not only pretty uncontrolled, it's unsafe. I have yet to be in a salon whose techs used the gromits that actually sterilized the grill bits in between clients. My tech either uses a new emory board or disinfects what she has every time I come in to the place. If she nicks the cuticle, she tosses the board.

But anyway...while I'd prefer natural nails, I do my best to make darn sure what I have looks natural. Belive me, if the choice is between acrylics and nicked up, peeling nails, acrylics look real good.

I do too much to have any nails left! although i would grow them or paint them etc if my Master chose for me to do so. They are good for during massage, to drag over skin and balls etc for relaxation and excitement, what ever their colour.
I suppose the colour depends on what outfit you wear, and how cheap you wish to look (or you master wishes you to look)

I love getting my nails done. It is the one time i get to sit and not do or think of a damn thing. And to be honest, i haven't found anyone who didn't love them.

I do white tips and filed round. The squire thing is just not natural to me. They are a DEEP red right now, because this weekend i will be doing a ritual in panther.

they don't need to be square - i think most technicians tend to leave them that way
because it's easier for them - whenever i have had acrylics, i always had them filed
oval - and i think RED nails are just so slutty..... >sigh<

I can't can't can't can't stand round or oval shaped nails ... mine have to be square. My mom on the other hand, always gets hers shaped round after we get them done.  To each his own I suppose.

square tips are mostly popular with the younger crowd. check out teenagers.. they all have french/white tips and very squared off. They also have those french/white tipped toes..those are creepy to me.. the toe nails have to be longer.. ewwww!
I used to have long perfect nails all the time, and kept them painted always.. matching my toes..then something happened after 35, and they just wouldn't grow well anymore. I started getting acrylics, and omg, I love them! the polish lasts till I take it off, and I just get a fill every 2 weeks. they don't break either. woohoo!
oh and I only wear purple to football games..;)

perhaps i'm the same age as your mom   although i think there's a big difference
between round and oval - and i agree with you, to each his/her own
