Jersey, it does sound like boils.....I get them when I'm stressed because my immunity breaks down then. The actual staph that causes boils lives in your nose. I also know how painful they are....I had 16 of them in an extremely delicate area of my body, couldn't sit for days! If the Bactrim isn't working, try asking for Keflex.....It works great for me, actually starts working in a matter of hours. If you can tell early enough that you're getting one, belieive it or not, I have found that acne pimple cream with benzoyl peroxide in it can actually STOP the boil from forming....just out it on a band aid and slap it on the spot. DON'T try to open or pinch the boil, the stuff will soak into the spot without having to do that. Also, have them culture it as someone previously mentioned it to make sure that it's not MERSA.....not sure what it stands for, but your doc will know. It was described to me as a resistant type of bacteria to penicillin, ampicillin....pretty much all the "cillins". As far as your soap and lotion choices, it may not matter much. I was actually using an anti-bacterial soap, but was told not to, as it's one more thing the bacteria can develop a resistance to. I don't put lotion on the areas around the boils, mainly because I want to keep them dry. Also, make sure you have them covered ALL the time......clothing will spread the bacteria too......and use latex or rubber gloves when cleaning them. I also would spray my sheets with lysol to kill any bacteria there....didn't seem to bother me, but I'd do it before I left for work, so it was dry and gone before I'd get in bed. Try to figure out what triggers an outbreak.....at least since I know what triggers mine, I can defuse the stress in other ways before it turns inward. Hope everything works out for you. m
