I just posted about this on my LJ, but I'm interested in what y'all think here... I was supposed to meet with my domme on Friday, and instead got an email to take time to clean/unpack my apartment, as I'd just moved, and she knew I really hadn't taken the time to do these things, and write back later to let her know what I'd gotten done. I felt slightly upset and disappointed (I mean, hullo! play, or clean???) but took some time to think about how submission isn't just about having fun. So, yeah, I did it, and even found that I kinda enjoyed doing it as a sort of act of submission...that was nice. As was getting something done that I'd been dreading. So, I'm curious from others--what was your first experience (or even just a notable one) of realizing that submission isn't just about playing and having fun? When was the first time you did a chore and realized, "hey, I don't feel all kinky and used, I just don't feel like doing this chore I need to do!"? Is it just completely lazy and immature of me to have even felt the way I did, or a typical part of growing as a submissive? Thanks!

Not the first, but a notable, was when I discovered doing the dishes at his request suddenly made it that much more thrilling. I did them right away, and was very pleased- as was he. behindmirrors.

When I didn't get my school lessons done and he wouldn't let me masterbate even though I was horny cause important school stuff wasn't done like it should be, or like Valentines day when I wanted to nap maybe some hanky panky, but school was coming up in an hour.

The day he began training me, when I received my first set of rules. But yes, it can be tough. I recently had a tough time when work interfered with my Stats class, causing me to fall behind. In the two weeks when I was catching up, I didn't get to do for him all the wonderful things I normally get to do for him, as he had me focused on school. It was admittedly a drag having to learn about Linear Regression when I wanted to commune with my Master instead, but a friend of mine pointed out, "Going to school IS serving him." Yeah but...but..but...it wasn't they way I wanted to be serving him!! Anyway, I quit pouting, caught up, got an A on my exam, and everyone was happy. It's all part of the bigger picture. Everything I do comes from my place of submission to him.

I am not really sure, its been a while. To me now, its the acts I do everyday. I fix his lunch and breakfast, clean the home, do the laundry, and all of the other normal everyday chores. At the end of the day, its not about a scene we did, its about the satisfaction I feel when wrapped in his arms at night, knowing I have done everything I could today to make his life easier and more comfortable.

I am a service submissive so i came into the lifestyle with a strong sense of service and work. Also my vanilla life is one that took me down a path of doing more service and work then typical. So it was natural for me to see work and service as part of the relationship. I knew from the beginning that is was not about play, bdsm, sex and me me me.. it was about service and giving and providing pleasure taking care of needs.. and in the process that includes play, bdsm and sex (thank goodness). We live 24/7 M/s and most of my time is spend in service working not in play or sex. The play and sex is part of it but if i went with a mind set that it was about the play and sex i would soon be disillusioned and disappointed.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! I'm hoping that I can learn to enjoy submission this way as well as I do any other submission, b/c I know that my main focus should be pleasing my owner, not myself! Meh, I'm still a little selfish. :) A report on crawfish? Osprey? Ugh...that would be a LOT harder than what I have to do... And crawfish as insertibles....I'm sorry, but some of y'all just aren't NICE. ;)
