I had a Dom friend ask me to check and see what the thing is about Dom's wearing Kilts.
He has been out of comission for about 2 months now due to health and has had several people at munch's mention they have ordered their Kilts

He said he didn't want to appear dumb so he kept quiet.  Which I thought was silly, but Dom's are sensitive in certain areas.  I told him i would check for him. If anyone knows anything I would greatly appreciate a tip on the subject.

MistressFeathers -> RE: kilts for Doms (2/19/2007 12:42:54 PM)

Didn't we just have a thread on cross-dressing doms?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: kilts for Doms (2/19/2007 12:45:00 PM)

It's a trend- just like any fashion trend.

It's also can be a good look for fat people versus regular pants.

And kinky people tend to want to wear things which "distinguish" them from everyone else.

And there's a lot of sci-fi/fantasy/renn faire/bdsm crossover and kilts are quite trendy and proflic in each of those cultures.

Kilts simply aren't cross dressing

Tis the season...St. Patrick's Day fast approaches. Tartan Day is in April. In May and June in the OH, WV, PA and MD areas, we're just waiting for the thaw and the various springtime highland events that will take place. A kilt is quite acceptable in many realms, be they leather studded with hardware for the dungeon or punk scene or just lauding the ancestry, being tartan and proud. Men find them easily donned for a ren faire, and the utilitarian styles with many pockets are quite handy for my friend who is a carpenter and one who works in a bike shop.
Keep the sexy trend alive.

Yeah, it's a trend. You know how flared jeans were first really uncommon and fashionable, and then you couldn't get anything but flares at mainstream stores like The Gap, and now they're not really in style? It's the same thing with kilts on dominant men. (Particular kinds of kilts, mind--the Utilikilt is favored.) A couple years ago it was rare to see a kilt (at least around here) and it was rather stylish then, but now they're everywhere.

I don't think a kilt is better than trousers for the truly overweight, though perhaps it works well on the slightly paunchy. Please, guys, do have good legs, don't wear white socks, and wearing calf-high boots and kilts is often a Good Thing.

I just down from the Isle of Skye
I'm no very big but I'm awful shy
All the lassies shout as I walk by,
"Donald, Where's Your Trousers?"

Let the wind blow high and the wind blow low
Through the streets in my kilt I go
All the lassies cry, "Hello!
Donald, where's your trousers?"

I went to a fancy ball
It was slippery in the hall
I was afeared that I may fall
Because I nay had on trousers

I went down to London town
To have a little fun in the underground
All the Ladies turned their heads around, saying,
"Donald, where's your trousers?"

The lassies love me every one
But they must catch me if they can
You canna put the breeks on a highland man, saying,
"Donald, where's your trousers?"

(traditional irish folksong)

My Daddy loves his kilt, it has nothing to do with being a dom as far as I know.

SimplyMichael -> RE: kilts for Doms (2/19/2007 1:16:26 PM)

There is a company that sells utility kilts called "utilikilt."  I have seen a few people wear them.  I wouldn't call it a huge movement though.

I met a dom in a kilt a week ago.  Didn't seem odd or normal, just par for the course with some of my friends,

MasterFireMaam -> RE: kilts for Doms (2/19/2007 1:48:03 PM)

A lot of people wear kilts. Utilikilt is a huge seller when they go to events. Theirs are made out of the same material as Dockers. They also have a leather kilt *swoon*

I was at a large kink workshop weekend. Several men wore kilts. Most were utilikilts, one was an actual dress kilt but he is in the army.
I thought they looked damm sexy and most women there would agree.
Not sure what being Dom has to do with it. They are just HOT.

My Dom/Husband is a first-generation Scot -- moved to the States about 4 years ago. Says he wears his kilt now more than he ever did in Scotland.

Aside from weddings and formal events, Highland Games and Irish Fest, he wears it to music festivals, ballgames (got on the Jumbotron that way once) and occasionally to work.

He is a bigger guy and it does look wonderful on him, whether he's wearing it with the whole formal outfit (including Prince Charlie jacket) or a rugby shirt and hiking boots.

He's gets lots of comments from guys and girls. My favorite is when they are a little shy and ask me instead of him, "Hey is it true what they say? What's he wearing under that kilt?" I smile coyly and respond "my lipstick".

Respectfully, it's a traditional Scottish folksong. Note that he "just came down from the Isle of Skye". That's off the coast of Scotland.

(edited to add, per my husband) "Canna" and "breeks" are Scots words, and a highland man can only be from one place... the Scottish Highlands!
