As common courtesy show respect to those who email. I see so many that just read them and forget. If the person is not to your liking tell them and then move on. If they don't get the hint , you were right to dimiss them in the first place. This respect goes both ways. If you are told your not what thet are looking for repsect there opinon and "LEAVE THEM ALONE". Name calling and other gesters really don't work either. The old saying "You get more flys with hunny" does work better. And if you don't agree with me fine. Post it here for others to read.

Bye.

There is nothing disrespectful in ignoring spam.

Louis2005 -> RE: Showing Respect. (3/17/2005 12:37:22 PM)

You make a good point. But for those who put in there profiles"seeking friends" or "looking for answers". Those people wave the right of "spam" emails. for those writing your profiles take time and read it. Make sure you say what you want it to.

SPAM, (n) Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail.

willing2serve -> RE: Showing Respect. (3/17/2005 12:40:51 PM)

Respect begat Respect......

If I recieved a sincere email of "hello", I would be in the wrong to not respond in a positive kind manner (according to my self-imposed beliefs). My profile is open for friendship and general talk.

However;

If I recieved a note, "cam me bitch", i have no obligation for respect.

Respect begat Respect......

As with many topics on this board, this is a rehash. Yes people should be polite.. but they are often overwhelmed. On your end, you get maybe one unsoliceted email a month. The people you're writing are getting maybe 50 a day. There isn't always enough time in someone's life to send a "sorry, not interested" to everyone that writes. Try being a bit more understanding. They aren't slighting you. They are dealing with their own lives.

Unless their profiles explicitly say, "please send me e-mail," any e-mail sent is unsolicited. A statement that they are looking for friends is not a solicitation for e-mail.

Thanks for the links BeachMystress. I gave up on posting links on this topic, it's been done so many times.

darkinshadows -> RE: Showing Respect. (3/17/2005 3:24:15 PM)

If I answered every single message in my mailbox everyday, then I wouldn't get to write here!

It isn't about showing respect. IMO respect neither has to be given nor earnt. It just exists.

I have a life outside these ads and forums. Can people not 'respect' the right of someone not to respond to an unsolicited mail?

Peace and Love

I agree with taggard completely.

But I think the real problem, isnt that I read the email. its that most people dont read the profile, or dont have enough reading comprehension to understand what it says.

too many people "jump" to conclusions when they read profiles.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Very telling when someone logs into the message boards to piss and moan and then never returns.

I don't know about you, but I couldn't WAIT to submit to someone like that. yeah, right, THAT's the ticket! [8|][:-]

Will you be returning, Louis?

nella -> RE: Showing Respect. (3/18/2005 11:47:57 AM)

When somone write to me and sy things like on your knees and suck my ***** slave as an intro, i thend to ignore them. Teir mail was disrespectful to me, and even if i am a submissive i still deserve respect. Somtimes i dont have the time to answer mails, and somtimes i am depressed and dont mamage to keep up to date whit my mail. spimel as that.

Louis2005 -> RE: Showing Respect. (3/18/2005 12:13:35 PM)

Hello MizSuz,
I didn't post to "piss and moan". I post to see what others opinon are out there. Unlike you I can't seat in front of the computer just waiting for a reply. Lifes does go on. Thanks for all opinons.

SirKenin -> RE: Showing Respect. (3/18/2005 12:49:38 PM)

I get approximately 150 spam emails a DAY. They've got My business email addy's and some of My personal ones too. The only one they don't have yet is My Gmail. I can't possibly even look through them, never mind address them. I also don't take the time to address emails that aren't important. If it's just some sort of notification or some ridiculous chain letter nonsense I just read or delete as appropriate.

Welcome back.

Perhaps it wasn't your intent, but this thread sounds like a piss & moan thread to me. As has been suggested on this thread, simply availing oneself of the search function will get you more replies to your topic than you apparently have the time to read (since you don't seat in front of the computer because your life is going on).

But, since you are too busy to do the thing that would be the most courteous to this board (such as availing yourself of the search function or taking the time to lurk a bit and get a feel for things before you post to bitch under the guise of a 'genuine question'), thank you for allowing me to give you my opinion.

I think that people have no more responsibility to be courteous to you regarding email than you have to be courteous to us here on the board. Tough shit if you don't like it or it doesn't suit your personal code of conduct; just as it's tough shit if we don't care for yours.

I'm sorry, but "looking for friends" (or a Dom/me/Master/Mistress/sub/slave/whatever) on a personals site HAS to be a considered a solicitation. Or are they expecting potential friends to contact them via mental telepathy?

Shayna -> RE: Showing Respect. (3/19/2005 10:17:37 AM)

I'd LIKE people to write back, just as I'd LIKE people to call me back when I leave messages and a whole host of other niceties that sometimes does and doesn't happen. That's life...don't take it personally. Welcome to the boards - hang around and get to know folks on this side..never know who you'll meet.

darkinshadows -> RE: Showing Respect. (3/19/2005 1:24:47 PM)

If looking for friends is stated, sure, then a well thought letter, with the written realisation that all is searched for is friends, fine... but if You specifically write *NOT LOOKING PEOPLE WANTED ONLY FOR DISCUSSIONS AND FRIENDSHIP* in big bold letters, that ones already Owned, married etc.... and you receive a mail saying 'I am discret'... or... 'I am looking for a sub to join myself and my alpha sub'... or 'Dom looking for girl'.... etc... that it is an unsolicited mail and a person is supposed to reply?

Curious...

]...or don't read profiles as the case may be. now, i do not mind people contacting me. it is not as out of hand for me as it is for some people here. however, last night, i received 3 emails. one from a TranDomme looking for a bi slave. one from a FemDom in NJ with no profile text flattering me and offering me chat and a $200/hr job. and one from a male submissive who "can be Dom" simply asking if i had a Yahoo ID.

now, i said "no thank you" to all three, and pointed out that i am not "available" and wished them luck. errrrrrrm, i also mentioned that such a wage would be wonderful, but might not be something i could tell my mother about...

and there was no answer from any of these "genuinely interested in [me]" people.

Y/you know, it is the ones that respond with something along the lines of "Oh! I didn't notice that in your journal. I'm sorry if I offended, but thank you for responding." that end up becoming an interesting exchange.

eh, i am not innundated in CM, but i have been innundated in other sites, and yes, while one can try to answer all the emails within reason, there is a point where you know it is not a genuine inquiry, and there are more important things to do with life, than to repeatedly have to reiterate what is already in your profile.

and if someone were to get ugly, blocking is easy, and so is telling Master. *l*
