The supposed association of BDSM with 'Evil' has always been there. It's always seen as a dark, underground scene that any god fearing man should both avert his eyes from and stay away from. Tomcat: "In all fairness, they also portray the resturant business, banking, insurance sales and high school field trips pretty negitivly too..." The point is that it's not just the popular Crime Drama 'Law and Order: SVU' that does it. It's a pretty popular theme to bash and/or use when trying to portray the criminal/evil doer/bad guy as exactly that. beltainefaerie: "In many other situations, the group being portrayed poorly will bombard the writers/networks, etc. with notes and emails about how the portrayal hurts the community, why the image they are sending is wrong, etc. What if all the kinky folk were to do that? I think people in TV land would be amazed that so many of us are well-spoken individuals that aren't "freaks" at all. However, it is always my belief that if we aren't doing anything to change it, we can't really complain about it." I don't believe for one second that any network would give two shits about annoying what is, by comparison to the vanilla population, a relatively small community. They know that what they are doing is putting arses in seats and selling DVDs. The all mighty dollar will reign supreme. We'll never escape it, and thus I'm affraid we'll either have to live with it or switch off whichever show offends us in this regard.
