It hasn't always been this way though, has it? Doesn't anyone remember Batman? Wasn't that kinky? I mean, you get this cop who creates this Batman persona just so he can get all dressed up in his leather gear to go out and catch criminals. Not only that, he gets a male submissive into wearing panties and pantyhose to help him. Not only that, they live together in this cave, not a woman in sight. And was there an outcry? No. They even screened this to kids. I don't know how it was in the US, but here in the UK it appeared that years ago TV was more liberal, especially when it came to children's television. I was recently going over some old episodes of children's TV programmes and I was quite shocked. I mean, there was Hector's House. From what I can see now it was all about a dog (Hector) with a stiff back (please don't ask how this dog got a stiff back) who was always being dommed by his two female neighbours, Mrs Frog and Mrs Cat. In one episode we see Hector in the garden being surprised by Mrs Frog. Hector: What? Hello Mrs Frog. What are you doing here? Mrs Frog: I've come round to see you Hector. Time for our afternoon lie down. Then you had Magic Roundabout, which appeared to be teaching us kids all about drug culture. There was Dylan, a rabbit who played a guitar who seemed permanently stoned, Ermintrude a cow who behaved erratically and always seemed to have a poppy in her mouth, Dougal the dog who was quite Dom who constantly ate sugar cubes (no doubt laced with something) and Zebedee who used to bounce in unexpectedly and must have been on speed. And then later you had Rainbow.. apparently for pre-school kids. There was Geoffrey the presenter, Bungle the bear (who appeared to be gay), a pink hippo called George and Zippy. Zippy was quite clearly dom and wanted his own way as much as possible, and George was just as definitely sub. The innuendo in this show was almost blatant. See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n4iqocDXr4 I wonder if you have similar examples in the US. I guess it changed in the 1980's when everything turned PC and then in the 1990's again when the moral majority appeared to take over TV and it went mainstream.
