I do what I have always done when my owner gets in a bad mood- I go in for the 'massage' technique!

First I'd help him take off any excess clothing, and I'd remain quiet, only sending him soft smiles to let him know I'm there for him. After that, I know he'll probably hit the bed face first as he always does when he's cranky/exaughsted, and I'd crawl up beside him and kneed into his back and rub over it with my palms while he lays there.

I was at the bank with him once and we were waiting for a while in the lobby and he was getting cranky. So right there I began to massage him. After a few minutes he looked at me and chuckled, "Are you trying to keep me from being in a bad mood?" I replied yes, and the people behind us started saying, "My turn!" "I'm going to fall asleep if I keep watching her do that" etc. We both thought it was funny and I felt rather proud. He seemed in a better mood after that!

Of course, I'd also ask if there was anything else I could do, like bring him a glass brimming with applejuice *snickers* or fix an early dinner if it's 4:00 p.m. I just love it when he gets to the point where he feels relaxed and lets out a deep, long sigh and looks at me like I'm the best thing that's ever happened. It makes me feel really good!

I  put to use the skills I've learned with critical stress debreifing, I listen as he rants about what is bothering him letting him verbalize the frustration while I try to see to his needs without bugging him about it.  I'll make him a tea  and maybe even put in a favorite movie in the background just for white noise,  If he needs to be alone and go tinker in the garage for an hour I don't  interupt him unless it's life or death while he is in there.  I don't cope well with people yelling and Rob knows that so he will do that in the garage if he needs to *s*  he is 'road rage guy'  but has found that munching on sunflower seeds when he is driving helps him stay calm so I make sure there is a snack baggie of sunflower seeds in his truck and in my Jeep at all times.

Hello. =)

My owner is a social worker, so he comes home from work angry and frustrated a lot. Poor baby =(

He's told me in no uncertain terms that I'm to keep the chaos at a minimum for about an hour after he comes home. He needs time to wind down, not be bothered with anything, and disengage from what goes on at his job. He's not allowed to tell me details in accordance with HIPA but he's told me enough. The kids and I generally leave him alone, and he prefers it that way. I give him a kiss and let him be.

Cheers,
Stella

It would depend on the person since i'm not in a relationship i probably shouldn't respond but i have learned that the easiest way to get rid of stress is via foot massage.  No, i don't have a foot fetish.  But there are pressure points in the soles of the feet that can work miracles to reduce stress AND it puts me where i should be...at His feet.  He can then tell me about His stress as i massage it away.
