ORIGINAL: HarryVanWinkle I definitely have to agree with this. I've never understood the need for this phrase. After all, who else's opinion would anybody be stating? The reality is that plenty of people have no problems speaking FOR others and suggesting that they can do so with no problem. I just consider it a simple way to clairfy and own my own feelings I have to admit I do this and the reason being similar to LA's reason. Also, so many people seem to get their boxers/panties in a bunch when you make a statement. They ASSume that if you are saying that you think/feel a particular way that you expect everyone to agree with you. I don't. I don't feel the need to try and sway others into believing as I believe or living as I do. I know what works for me but don't expect it to work for everyone. I also do not mind a discussion with opposing views. It seems that by adding "in my opinion" it helps people understand that your not necessarily expecting them to agree, just stating how you think/feel. As far as what I find most irritating........That people allow themselves to get so upset about pixels on a computer screen. Sometimes they really need to push away from the computer a little sooner and put it all in perspective.
