Trying, unsuccessfully, to stalk you.

Now, I should say that my attempt involved starting an international conspiracy to somehow screw up my internet without me knowing, then having to wait a week for stupid Rogers to come by.

But an effort was made.

Yours,

Edited to add:  She thought it was lemon sorbet....  The look on her face was priceless!

I also love the people who have a blank profile and then send an email or request to chat.  How do they expect anyone to take them seriously?  I block and delete them.

Those people immediately go into my "to be spammed" list.  It's not spam if they emailed you first. ;-)

MsCfromMelbourne -> RE: What do you find most irritating in the "Online BDSM Community" (2/25/2007 6:46:44 PM)

Most irritating?

Um.....its a toss up

1)  off topic posts.  Silliness and banter that gets out of control and pollutes the intelligent debate

2)  super sensitive gigantic egos (Dom or sub!).  People who already Know It All and are never wrong don't need to be here.

3)  those that heap criticism on others but have nothing helpful or constructive to contribute themselves

Unlike others, I do not mind flaming.  Been flamed to a smouldering cinder myself plenty of times.  Flaming shows everyone who does - and does not - have emotional control of themselves.  Its a good way to figure out the idiots and keep away from them.

Equally, stupid email warns you who is - well - stupid.  Block them asap. Useful tool I reckon

God, sorry folks for the multiple posts.  I'ma keep this lil window open till I'm caught up so I don't get out of control.  Yes, I'm a smartass, so I'm commenting.  That's what discussion boards are for.

Oh, and please keep in mind anything said in this post is almost guaranteed to be rife with sarcasm and overflowing with evil and is not meant in any way to harm or traumatize anything non-Troll.  =)

But... but.... NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

... oh, and *cackling* I totally agree.  I get emails from Doms who think that because they saw ME online that I am fantasizing about THEM.  WTF??

Sad part is, azz, it's not just us white folk...  It's universal!  Sarcasm is only truly appreciated in the UK.  That's why I'm devoted to a Brit LOL

That's not enough?  I make the subs who are auditioning send me a spell checked essay as their first "try it out" task.  No spell checking, I politely tell them to move along.  This, of course, does not apply to us in the forums as there's no .... oh my god there's a spell check button up there!  *smirk*

Well then damn it azz, who the hell else are we supposed to take it out on?  The fun ones let us... the ones that are causing the problems won't let us take it out on them.  Damn it Batman, what do we do now?!

It hardly rates as a top peeve but people who say they will relocate and then you find out the have a poly family already, or are collared and there is absolutely no chance they will relocate. In most cases I suspect they have forgotten they have checked it but it still takes up my time. Petty I know but still irritating.

OMG no kidding!  My roommate (we shall call him roomieDom) and I are looking to add more kinky poly people to our house.... and the amazing amount of people who advertise they'll relocate or that they're available... AREN'T!!  I even had a sub the other day who JUST got his new collar message me about seeing if I was interested in him.  WTF??  That's so not fair.  Especially when they're cute.  *sigh*

and if someone said " I think it's a black thing" about anything you do, you accuse them of being in the KKK. I find it interesting that it's ok for you to make racial statements, and not ok for anyone else.

Oooh come on now.... it's always a black thing... that's a given.  it's just when it's a white thing that it needs pointing out... *giggles and hides*

My biggest pet peeve on this site is all of the subs out there who after sending me two whole messages want to talk to me on the phone or meet in person, and then when I tell them no, they insist that I am a complete fake.

OK, now I don't agree with the fake accusations, but what's wrong with wanting to talk on the phone?  Voice is a serious thing for me.  If you have a squeaky little girl voice, I probably couldn't even be friends because it would irritate the snot out of me.  if I start to like someone, I want to know what they sound like.  Just like I ask right off about bathing habits and cologne brand.  Stinky squeaky people are just no no's to this kitty... no matter what else comes with it.  Bitchy, I know, but at least I know what I can and can't tolerate.

*BUSTS a gut laughing* oh, what?  There's no difference in how the people in either "community" relate to each other.  There are golden and rotten apples in each one.  People are people no matter what their kink, or lack of kink, is.  I wholeheartedly agree with you Aileen.  Silly rabbits.

Well, since I've run into most of the stuff mentioned in the real time community as well as the online community ("real vs fake," "one true way," "conformity as a way of being individual," "making assumptions," "arrogance,"  "been there done that," "one uppers," "narrow minded idiots," and on and on) I don't count them as things that bother me about Online, but about the people in general.

The online stuff that drives me bonkers:

  • people who think that shortcutting words like you or are is ok. For heavens sake, you save two whole letters! Are they that lazy?? And don't give me the texting argument. This predates texting!
  • people who write in mixed capitals (LiKe tHiS)
  • people who have never met a spell checker
  • people who have no clue how to use punctuation
  • people who use lime, yellow or cyan for their text

My pet peve is when a woman doesn't understand that at one time I was the King of the entire freaking universe.

Now I realize, there are a lot of young bucks who would now claim that title, but there was a time...I have all the copies of the "Metro Times" (above the fold) on my shelf...and every one of them shows me...holding my own....and I was the fucking King of the Universe.

And let me just say....I could do it again....you just watch....

well now, in addition to your delightful picture and excellent taste in snackies, I have fond memories of the naughty things I used to do to my Barbies.  It was usually more out of I HATE YOU!! impulse than actual pre-BDSM tendencies leaking out though.  Hm.  *offers to lick any coffee & cookie off of interesting places*

What I hate the most are those Doms that email and think that a sub will immediately shuck the clothes and get infront of a cam so they can train them. Come on, seriously do they believe because someone is a sub they will not think and do something like that.  Do they think they have so much power or do they just think subs have no brain matter.

I agree with others about boasting experience. All the experience in the world does not prepare one for what is to come. Some people were just BORN grasping the concepts of these ways, and others grew into them.

As well, the usages of labels. Everyone has their own idea of what terms mean. It just gets so confusing!

I shall try not to go on a massive rant here, as I typically do with things.... but my response to the subject is here at least!

However, the biggest thing is lack of concern for presentation. If a person cannot show enough respect to spell out three letter words such as you and are well, what business do they have wanting to guide me in any way shape or form? I don't expect people here to know how to spell or grasp the concept of metacognition (though, now that I have shown you how....) but I want people who speak with me to show they passed at least third grade in their writing skills! Perfection is flawed, understood, but be decent and care about presentation!

Mikal -> RE: What do you find most irritating in the "Online BDSM Community" (2/25/2007 6:56:39 PM)

Actually, what sort of bothers me (not really, but it is annoying when it keeps happening) is when I'm sent a message from some person I have never IM'd/emailed/etc.  who's profile is blank, and they are asking me to meet them in such-and-such a city.

Another irritant is messages from those who think I'm 'perfectly matched' to them, but their profile lists my hard limits as their live-fors. Uh huh. Perfect match eh? *rolls eyes*

To me, the most irritating things I see in the so called "Online BDSM Community" are what I call, "One True Wayism" and "It's all about MEism."

What are your pet peeves?

the fact that so many seem to think that this so called lifestyle makes us special in some way; or that we somehow live charmed lives because of it.

KalynDomme -> RE: What do you find most irritating in the "Online BDSM Community" (2/25/2007 8:05:06 PM)

OH!  I forgot one - the people who have the arrogance to argue me down about something I am an expert on (though they're usually so new to me they don't know this yet - people who know me know better than to argue when I'm certain of something.  I will have facts.  I will show them.  They will be chastised) and then get all pissed off when I prove to them that I was in fact correct about my side of the argument.  Sometimes it has nothing to do with them being wrong, just that they insulted my intelligence and must be corrected.  Other times it brings me perverse joy to show them my research and facts and just walk away, knowing they're FUMING that not only were they insulting the wrong person's intelligence, but I could prove it.  =)

*puffs out chest (and knocks the cat next to her off the bed)*  Irritating when they do it, SUPER satisfying when I put them in their place.

OH!  I just thought of something else - ever think that there are fat subs out there because they are submissive and succumb to all of the advertising saying they should eat at Wendy's and McDonald's?  They NEED you Doms to correct their way of thinking so they'll stop being brainwashed by fast food advertising!  They NEED someone to control them and their eating habits so they won't be fat anymore.  Think of it as a challenge, not a turn off....

*was a fat girl, found a Dom, Dom can cook, Dom doesn't allow fast food and chooses all meals, is now a less fat girl and will soon be a not fat girl*

SusanofO -> RE: What do you find most irritating in the "Online BDSM Community" (2/25/2007 10:24:45 PM)

I don't have a lot of pet-peeves. But there is one thing that has really started (after 2 years) to get on my nerves. And it is -

People who use the word "lifestyle" combined with telling how many years of experience they have (or even using ther term on its own withut saying that) in said "life-style", and then won't (or can't) further define or quantify that statement - and yet still seem to expect it to mean something (to me, or in general).

To me, using the term "life-style" implies we are all issued a membership card when we decide to try being in D/s relationship, and are an awful lot alike in other ways, when actually it might only be a common interest in bdsm activity that we have in comon - and bdsm actvity is a wide and varying ocean of things indeed.

To me using the term "life-style" implies there is "one way" it's practiced (or very specific things it includes) -  and it just isn't, and doesn't (at all), IMO.

I've asked people what they think this term means, and I've had several people who really couldn't answer this question (and these were people who had just told me they had X number of years of experience in "the life-style.")

I guess I am really tired of the ambiguity of the term "life-style".

I think I'd prefer it if someone simply said, instead: "I was-am in a D/s relationship."
At least (to me) that is slightly less confusing (even if that might not make sense to anyone else here).

I do think there are many folks here I like, and maybe many of us do have things in common with eachother, etc - but it's not because of an interest in bdsm alone, I don't think. The term "life-style" seems to imply some mysterious brother-sisterhood based on a single common interest (bdsm).

I just think it's just plain over-kill.

Thanks for letting me get that out of my system. Whew!

- Susan

My biggest pet peeve is the PC fantasy that some hold of everyone fitting into nice little one size fits all examples of perfect people born of an obviously far from perfect gene pool.

Especially fitting as one example of this pet peeve and how it sits with me would be the 'perfect slave syndrome'. I don't want to make this a long winded post and I've given my best shot in explaining that already on my profile.
