SusanofO -> RE: What is you real Opinion of these "Sites" (2/27/2007 8:25:13 PM)

Maybe re-thinking what I just said...he. I really honestly believe that ignoring people who "dis-respect" one on a website is often the safest and most effective route, unless - they say something that is so UnGodly awful one cannot bear to let it pass. Reasons: It "defuses" the ongoing tit-for tat that inevitably ensues. It doesn't give some the attention they so obviously crave, and re-inforce their behavior for all the wrong reasons. It is their Dominant's job to dominate them, and try to alter their behavior, dammit, not mine. I am not the baby-sitter, and would prefer to save my energy for those I love, family and friends, and extend courtesy to those others on-line who can also extend it (as very many also do). I might try to get back to the topic at hand, or express some empathy for them if I feel they've been genuinely mis-understood by some other posters. I might even do this more than once. But will I keep it up for pages? Probably not. 1) Poeple have to learn how to get along with other people sometime and - 2) There are actually some folks who live to argue irrationally, are overly sensitive, etc. Is it my job to "raise them"? 3) No, it's not. I'd rather discuss a real topic, 99% of the time. - Susan
