ORIGINAL: bludemonn forgive me ma'am but i think you will find that the concept of Demons are alot older that the Chritian religion, true you have chritian developed Demons in various grimoires but they have been around in many many civilisations alot longer that 2000 years. No forgiveness Blu. What I said was "Demons are Christian inventions, arising from Middle Eastern dualistic ideas", clearly indicating current cultural understanding of the concept and referring to the origin of demon in Middle Eastern dualistic ideas. I would have mentioned Zoraster, but to be fair I thought that those aware of Zorastrianism would take that comment as sufficient reference, whilst such a mention would have been wasted in the absence of a lengthy explanation, to those unaware of that particular religion. The issue really, the difference between Middle Eastern duality systems where there is good and evil, and the Asatru system in particular, is that we do not ascribe evil as such to those we call Etins, (who would be the comparitive figures in our mythology), but rather ignorance. Equally, our Gods and Goddesses are not good in the sense of doing good deeds at all times - in fact Odin in particular and Freyja also, are known for stirring up trouble, but all for the ultimate good because they act with awareness. Our duality then, could be said to be that between ignorance and awareness, but that gives an entirely different character to Asatru. E
