duckykarma -> degrading words (3/2/2007 9:07:08 AM)

i am wondering what all of you think is the most degrading word that has ever come out of someones mouth? what is your reaction to that word?

The word i think is the most degrading is Cunt..everytime someone has called me that or even said it I wanted to put them through the wall...

For me it was the one time my mother called me a slut when I was 18 and she believed I'd lost my virginity to a man I'd met from online who lived in Idaho.  The scorn and pain that she used in that word took a long time to heal from and is probably part of why I take such pride in using it for myself now.

It is not the word itself that is degrading ever, it is the intent behind the name calling that is degrading. Just me

the n-word

it's the most foul and degrading word even though it's commonly used within the African-American race.

missturbation -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 9:17:55 AM)

For me it would be to be called a liar. My reaction varies but my feeling is usually a cross between being really pissed off and being hurt.

onestandingstill -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 9:18:39 AM)

Mine is much the same story as LA.
My Mom was calling me a whore at age 12-14 when I never went any place but school & home and had never been kissed or dated at all.
Her using that term ate me alive with pain, confusion and dissapointment.
Now I think no, I'm a slut not a whore as I don't get paid for sexual services, but I don't really care if someone calls me this name or not.
LOL now the worst name I've been being identified as lately that runs panic and revulsion in me is many keep saying they think I'd be a wonderful Domme. That just creeps me right out and confuses the heck out of me.

   I don't worry about it.   The people in my inner circle of family and friends would more than likely not call me any degrading names except for my partner during play, but that's different and nothing he has ever called me really bugged me.  If anyone else calls me some name that is degrading, it probably made them feel better and if calling me that name gave them so joy in their lives then I'm glad I could be of service because they probably wouldn't get very much happiness otherwise.

bayboundse -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 9:24:12 AM)

Mine is being called a thief. Something I have never been or will be.

pahunkboy -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 9:36:08 AM)

Personally- foul language   "god damm"  - I asked my buddy jenn and jim that i prefer not to hear this when we talk.

In the presence of a female- I feel foul language should be avoided.

The F word, MF,  ccksukr, bitch -and so on.  especially with older generation.

among the best advice i ever got;

My dad always told me- an educated person can express himself with out profanity.  dad [may he rest in peace] is right.

Its not particularly words that bother me, but what they mean to me.  For example - the general public can call me what ever the like....  it means nothing.  Yet, with Master who knows me so well if he were to say a word here or there.. or even a choice sentence - i would literally flip.  i do not let others so far into my pysche, which creates a barrier to anything that i would find degrading.  Once in, there are several things that could be said that would.

Roksana -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 10:03:18 AM)

I do call my stepbrother as doggie infront of others

nissa -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 10:04:20 AM)

I would agree with those who said that it's not the word itself; but HOW the word was meant to be interperted.

I have been called bitch, cunt, whore, slut, niggerlover,  ( sorry if it offends anyone ), guttertrash,  by some, and taken it in the loving, humorous way it was meant to be taken. And then I have been called those same words and been so insulted and offended because of the way they were used.

its your choice to wear it.  (or not)

sticks n stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me!  said it as kids.

pahunkboy -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 10:08:58 AM)

one thing- when walking or bikeriding along a street; in chicagoland people yell out car windows- I suppose this happens in any metro. usually punk kids.
Some drivers dotn recognize that pedestrian have teh right a way. I almost got my azz kicked by a motorist- who was in a hurry to get his car washed- cause I did not stop walking.  i understand in california the ped has the right away- well in illinios the drivers ignore such.

In a small town you can walk the street- seldom, very seldom do passsing cars yell at person walking......

drawntothedark -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 10:09:17 AM)

Stupid is one that really hurts me. I can take slut, whore, cunt (not my favorite but it doesn't hurt) fat, ugly, stuck up etc etc..........but stupid breaks me everytime.

SeekingAMentor -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 10:12:49 AM)

I agree with most that it is the way that it is said that makes the word degrading. BUT bitch is #1 on my list of least favorite names to be called.

redwall2001962 -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 10:33:53 AM)

When someone tells me to shut up

MasterFireMaam -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 10:36:56 AM)

I used to have "Bitch" written in the dust of my car at high school. It crushed me. Now, I understand why...why it was written, why it crushed me...and why they can all just fuck off.

'Slut'. That word makes me go cold inside. In 7th grade I was branded with that word tho I had never dated nor slept with a boy, I never knew why I was called that but it hurt. Growing up in my family we were not even permitted to say 'Shut up' so I grew up very unaccustomed to verbal degradation.
I view those that are reduced to using language like that as people lacking in vocabulary, and as people that are angry but unable to verbalize it any other way.
Words do have the power to hurt/degrade, that is why words such as nigger & cunt are considered hateful by so many. I just try to keep in mind that it is coming from a source that can't manage to be creative enough to use other words [:D].

BRNaughtyAngel -> RE: degrading words (3/2/2007 10:44:06 AM)

When I was in high school, I came home from the neighborhood pool one summer day after a guy that was flirting with me threw me in the pool fully clothed.  I wasn't wearing a bra, and my shirt clung to me.  Well my Dad and my best friends Dad were working on the car in the driveway and he asked what happened and I told him.  But as I walked by, he called me to come over to him and he ran his hand down my back to confirm I wasn't wearing a bra.  He called me a slut and that cut me to the core.  Especially because he said in front of my best friends Dad.

The word doesn't bother me at all now, although the only person that uses it with me is the one who owns me.

I do find it rude, classless, obnoxious and degrading to be around a person who can't carry on a regular conversation without spewing curse words in every sentence.
