Totalmaster4you -> Invisable profiles (3/2/2007 10:04:15 PM)

Sometimes befor I answer a question asked in a post I see the need to know more about the poster to better answer the question asked. However, more than a few times when I've searched they are not there. So how come? I can surmise but I'd rather know.[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m21.gif[/image]

Sometimes, they 'are' there, and the only way to get to them is to search on their screenname rather than just clicking on their name from CollarChat.

Otherwise, people hide themselves for various reasons.  To be able to freely look at profiles, but not draw attention or receive mail.

adaddysgirl -> RE: Invisable profiles (3/3/2007 3:52:52 AM)

Not too long ago i deactivated my profile on the other side because i had a lot of things going on in RL and really didn't have time to pursue a possible relationship.  i took it down so as not to encourage responses when i really wasn't available.  But i do plan to put it back up once things settle down more in my personal life.

I've heard there's a way to deactivate your profile without having to delete it, but I've never found the button that makes that happen.
Any clue how to turn it off???

mnottertail -> RE: Invisable profiles (3/3/2007 4:41:04 AM)

go to edit profile....

Take a second, look at them FAT ASS buttons at the top of the screen, it will become  intuitively obvious.

LOL funny thing is I think I looked at that very screen 100 times before and didn't see the dang button till you told me.

Thanks mnottertail as if it was a snake it would have bit me huh??

petstorm -> RE: Invisable profiles (3/3/2007 10:45:25 AM)

.......sometimes the best place to hide is in plain site. i've done that too, overlooked something that would have bitten me had it been a snake!

bettie1959 -> RE: Invisable profiles (3/3/2007 11:46:29 AM)

I turn off my profile when I am not in the mood or am too busy to date.  Later when the situation changes, I don't want to have to recreate the wheel so to speak so I dont completely delete the profile. I can still read the forums without recieving email.

....at least I disclaim on my disclaimer why.  Bothers most everyone but I really dont care.  My disclaimer use to say, if you want to read it, I will sent it to you. If someone has an invisible profile, they just deactivated, your choice as well. No one needs know more unless I choose to tell them on the other side.  And rarely do they think I am anymore than a faker wannabe ... their jugmental bliss, not mine, cause I get no replies.

I am open and honest about mine if someone wants to know, but they MUST respectfully ask in forums to see my profile.  I dont respond to shit cause I am not shit.

That is one girls disclaimer.

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Invisable profiles (3/3/2007 4:08:52 PM)

And what did you surmise?..because frankly there are as many reasons as there are people who do so.....Tempting

gentlethistle -> RE: Invisible profiles (3/4/2007 9:50:12 AM)

Mine isn't there because I'd changed it to reflect a changed situation, then the situation changed again and rather than start all over changing it to reflect that I just made it invisible.  Now I'd have to get permission to re-instate it and frankly I can't be bothered, so I think I'll just leave it that way.  If I were 'looking', then obviously I'd have to be bothered and try to rewrite it again to some semblance of the world the way I see it it.  But at that stage I might just delete it and leave here anyway.

Hope that helps somewhat in understanding one of the many reasons people might have for being ex-directory....

Laura

Celeste43 -> RE: Invisible profiles (3/5/2007 4:18:33 AM)

My profile claims I'm a group membership and I haven't the slightest idea why. Or how to change it.

Happily collared sub.
Just here for the boards.

dat dont look like group membership to me.
maybe he wants you to get permissin as a collared sub to write him on the udder side and ask why he surmizes??

allofmee -> RE: Invisible profiles (3/5/2007 5:50:32 PM)

I turn mine off and on. I am sorry. I like to see who is writing and interests too.

I only turn it off because of 'the other side' people seeking. I always write a note back to those who write and explain I am not looking right now, but do appreciate the interest.   Yet, some keep writing and get demanding. Argue.
How to keep polite when "No Thanks" isn't enough?

mnottertail -> RE: Invisible profiles (3/5/2007 5:58:48 PM)

you think I'm cynical?  I have put on some weight over the winter, but goddamn!!!!

Give me a little taste, turn it on for me--Ba-Beee!!!!

RWAble -> RE: Invisable profiles (3/6/2007 4:47:31 PM)

cjenny -> RE: Invisable profiles (3/6/2007 5:08:42 PM)

I'm thinking of deactivating my profile but I haven't fully decided. In a way it is distracting & I feel so obligated to respond to Cmail.. no real time for reading the forums.
I didn't really come here for the forums at first, heck it took a couple of months to work up to a post. But so much has been shown to me, other ways of living. Of believing. Whether or not I agree or like what I read, I am learning.
I thought I knew who I was, what I wanted & I didn't expect the inner change I've been going thru this winter. I've realised that I MUST get some things in order so that I can progress & grow.
If I don't grow there isn't much point to it all.
It's part of pulling away I know, I'm cutting ppl off from me but I feel like I have to for awhile.

So I just may be one of those invisible profile peoples [;)] .
