I can certainly understand the desire to "let 'em come to you".  FirmHandKY tells me that he feels it makes a woman stand out if she makes initial contact.  In this particular case, though, he did tell me that it was his intention to write... I merely beat him to it.  Something about letting a cooler head prevail.

Let me explain that "cooler" heads remark.

It was always my practice, if I found a woman that excited me - especially in the "little head" department - to put her on my favorites, or otherwise note her but not to contact her immediately.

I'd wait a day ... a couple of days .... a week ... and review her profile and any other information I had, and then, if I was still interested, I would write her.

Treasure's email caught me in that waiting period.  Worked out well, I feel.

What had caught my attention, and made me go "aahhh" in the first place were her literate and well-thought-out forum posts.  I'm not sure I'd ever found her profile if she hadn't caught my interest on the forums.  Her heart-felt profile, and then her classy photos pretty much set the hook.

When I finally started talking with her, it didn't take very long at all for us to realize how much we mirrored each other.  Not only on how we thought, and what we were looking for, but in our life experiences and desires.

She has used the term and concept of feeling like "coming home" - that instant feeling of safety, comfort and relief when you return to your home after a long and stressful trip - to describe how we both felt, and I think that's pretty accurate.

But, again, it was the one-two punch of her posts, and then her profile that got my attention.

FirmKY

Good post FirmhandKY. I have to disagree with you on the cooler heads thing. I suspect she bum rushed ya and you liked it! I too appreciate initiative, at the very least I gain a friend.

I dont send notes of interest but I will respond to a well written profile,
something that is well rounded and laced with humor has stopped me in my
tracks a time or two.  I tend to send notes randomly when something peeks my interest.
(just like the one I sent you Troll when I saw you name and thought it was great!)

For me, it's not the opinion or the politics or the similarity in interests or even the breadth of interests. If a passion is showing through in her posts then she'll get my interest. The women who I like to read are those where their desire shines through in their posts. I'm making a leap in judgement, but I have a feeling the ones I have in mind have a real hunger as part of their make-up and are the sort of submissives I want to associate with.

I've only mailed one woman on this site, simply because I live in a different country and I ain't moving anywhere. If I were from the US, I'd be actively chancing my arm with the fiery lot.

Trying to explain what causes me to write someone is like trying to hold water in my hands, ellusive. But I will do my bestestest.

When I write someone from the forums it is almost always simply a friendly gesture because of something they wrote. Something that, in a real group gathering would cause me to want to say hello. I don't look at the forums as dating potential, most are too far away and/or have a quality that makes it not possible anyway. Example: 1000 miles away and not interested in or able to move, male gender, attached already, etc etc etc. I don't even so much consider their orientation either sexually or as dominant/submissive. They are quite simply people I would love to spend time with and get to know better.

On the other side, if I email someone it is usually as a response to one I have recieved.  There has been a rare occasion that I have seen a profile pop up on the home screen that has caught my eye and had some signs of intelligent life within the words that caused me to email them. I'm not shy, nor do I feel an email sent is necessarily fishing. They may have a quirky something in a photo that makes me pause and consider there might be something interesting about this hot chick, or a few words that jumped out and made me laugh and think....."okay, good looking, a brain, AND a sense of humour! I gotta say hi" Hell, half the time they are straight or already attached but I honestly do not care. I think everyone likes to get mail that is complimentary without being obnoxious. I just remember that I once wrote someone because they were standing in front of a cabinet full of awsome art pottery, one of my many loves. I just had to ask if it was theirs and what their favourite was. Turns out she was a stupid snotty bitch and the photo was taken at a party at someone elses house......oh well. No harm, no foul.

The thing is, kinda like others have said and Michael so succinctly, for me it's about the person I get a feel for behind the photo, with their words. That they have a life, a rich full life that goes far beyond this one common interest reflected by this website. It makes me want to know them better.  That combined with a brain and a really complex sense of humour is priceless to me. I write to tell them so.

I have to say that regularly reading the forums here is both reassuring as I find that there are so many fascinating, humourous and literate people and frustrating as none of them live anywhere near me!  I sometimes send people in the forums a note to say I enjoy reading their posts.

LOL sure sounds like it wander.

At hooters the other night i was checking out all the boobies and all the guys.  Hooters = gold mine.  What catches my attention is the jaw line and from there i go to the eyes.  hmmmmmmm  Eyes are good.  Locked eyes with one guy and i saw oceans and later another man that i was studying just looked massively intense.  Course i found out what his career was from Master and it makes you wonder if ones preferred career gives people an aura.  Or a look.... hmmmm???  God that man's eyes were intense, HE was intense.

Here on the forums, its merely intelligence.  Intelligence i can respect.  Some one that knows what the hell they're talking about and knows when they dont know what the hell they're talking about.   Not just an intelligence in X area's of interest, but just an over all intelligence.  It sort of just shows through people.   Er.... and they're also generally Dominant as dominant ppl, tend to....

OR they go around randomly talking about biting my ass and i cant help but be curious as to who they are and why they're wanting to bite my ass.  = )

I'm a sucker for a redhead, clear bright eyes, a wry sense of humor, a quick inquisitve mind, white teeth, full lips, a strong well balanced neck and dewy skin. The usual stuff. I am attracted to a challenge, a strong willed woman who lays that power at my feet in soft submission. It brings out the protector in me. It allows me to be magnanomous.

Hiya Troll,

I supposed I could set here and blow sunshine up everyones ass and give some camoflauged P.C. answer, but hell that wouldn't be me now would it?

I love a set of eyes that demonstrate depth, intelligence, a tad bit of insolance, and most importantly those eyes that say, please fuck me now and make me love you forever. (hey, they do say that eyes are the windows to her soul) It also helps if the rest of the girl is appealing to my sense of uhhh la la. Also, being that perverbial ass man, I like the ones that make you through caution to the wind and make you turn and stare with a grin. Honky tonk, ka'donkey donk, I believe that is what they call them. Those asses that make your palms sweat and your lust gland expand. (My momma just raised me to be super, the ficial part was all my idea)

Looks up and howles at the moooooooooooooooooon,

Bull.........................

had to edit something so it made sense, I was pondering a nice ass, that always distracts me...

Someone who is able to leave the drama & snarkiness behind. I tend to wait a bit before Cmailing someone who I admire, I wait to make sure they are consistant in what they say & in how they speak to others. Thinking about it, I would say that I typically contact those that I want to learn something specific from.
There are some wonderfully intelligent people here, some are way above my level & getting the opportunity to read them is great.

I don't write to people often, unless it is to comment on something they said on the boards.   I tend to want my men crawling to me from jump, seeking my attention, and hoping to gain my affection (or something else).

When on rare occasions I do write to someone, it is because his profile had a mix of grounded thinking, mirroring of my sentiments, and a sense of humor...  Being yummy looking doesn't hurt either...   But I don't mean "spend my life at the gym";  I mean a mix of not too ugly/not too pretty, and clean cut/dressed.    M

I am curious to know, since this is a connection site, what stops you in your tracks and makes you go Hmmmm…

Everyone has different tastes and different kinks, but what makes you wanna click the person on this side and actually look at the possibility?
After satisfying the peek of curiosity, what makes you write them, or not?

When someone makes me see things in a different light, make me really think about it, and go "hrmm never thought of it that way" I really like to know what makes others 'tick'

One thing that is a biggy for me is, someone who makes me laugh.

Either one of those will peek my curiosity and make me take a peek at the profile.

To actually email them? That is all about me getting the nerve to do it. (hopefully, I am not missing out on something because I can be a chicken) LOL

I read to see if they know how to express themselves and how - if they show humbleness or seem arrogant. If they know how to "talk the talk".  Then I check to see if they have any interests and what they might be.  A photo is always appreciated.  I like a nice smile.  Plain and simple - no laughing at a party and no grim lineup expression!  I swear some guys look like they belong in prison.  Hair helps.
