I would say transgender, be it from the level of wearing the other genders clothing, right up to the level of post op gender change. To just use trans make me think of many other alternative endings that have no relevance at all reall, istor, ient, althoufh I guess form(ed) could apply as a wide umbrella term in the same way I used gender above.

Thats it, Im going to bed now:)

Lady Ellen,

The group I volunteer for uses LGBTTTSIQQ - meaning Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transexual, Two-Spirited, Intersex, Queer and Questioning.

It's a mouthful, but I think it includes everyone (except kinksters... unless kinky people id as queer (?)). Cudos for your poll

Fwiw, the Human Rights Campaign, one of America's leading GLBT groups, describes itself as working for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights.

Reading this made me dig out my copy of Kvetch by gay BDSM writer T.R. Witomski, who says:

Speaking of lesbians, I adore them, of course. It is both refreshing and comforting to know that in a gathering of homosexuals some people will know how to change a flat tire. But for years I thought that lesbians were gay, just like me. (Well, maybe not just like me, but more or less like me.) Now though, it appears that lesbians are not gay, they are lesbians, which was never in any doubt. But it's all becoming a grammatical mess. You can't easily use the word gay these days without adding "and lesbian" immediately following it. Thus the Gay Press Association is now The Gay and Lesbian Press Association, and Gay Pride Week is Gay and Lesbian Pride Week. This is silly. And must stop. Right now. Or else I fear one day we will be marching in the Gay and Lesbian and S/M and Cross-Dressers and Bisexual and Homosexual and Homophile and Just Plain Queer Parade. This is unwieldy and will look cramped on a button.
