I have been noticing that several posters now seem to have to have all thier posts approved before being posted.  I think this is nonsense.  None of the people in question have ever posted anything illegal or seriously wrong(at least that I have seen).  We are all adults and choose to participate in these forums.  No ideas are going to harm anyone.  Pre censorship seems very unreasonable to me.

Lucky, read the TOS. Then consider just how hard it would be to moderate this board, keep people from flaming and just running around like idiots.

The problem is that not everyone acts like an adult so sometimes they don't get to play with others until they learn not to run with scissors.

Well said, I am sure the mods know why and what they are doing.

Ah, then the mods have been hard at work, sanitizing the forums before you noticed the unsanity.

I do suspect and know that the mods sometimes are a bit harsh and even wrong in their strikes, but dealing with fools like me is a tough and stressful task, and they are human as well, so cut them some slack. They are the reason that this is a pleasant place. Besides, there is nothing that any of us guests of CM can do about it anyway, except to behave nicely.

People who're on moderation *usually*have broken rules several times and dispite several warnings. Moderation, or censoring as you call it is the last step in managing repeat offenders, short of banning.

I too would like this site to run to my exact specifications, but it ain't happening because it isn't mine.   I try and follow the rules, and if I get told to cut BS out, and try and do that too.   I consider this like going to a gracious person's home;   if said person asks me not to write on their walls, I will refrain from doing just that...   And if the rules at said home are too much for me to cope with, I will simply leave.

I don't always know why they do what they do, but than again, I'm not putting my paycheck into running this site or even using my free time to moderate and retain order on this site, so I will take that into consideration before picking on them.    M

Hell I'm gratful for their censorship. The ones that they watch usually don't have anything worthwhile to add anyway, so it's not like we're missing much.

I have no idea as to why some folks have been placed on moderation, but I think the mods have been doing a great job in keeping the personal attacks down to a minimum. I can’t stand reading any type of personal attack made from behind a computer screen.

I suspect it is the fact  that certain posters are to keen to indulge in personal attacks and so all their posts are checked.
I dont think its the ideas that they post that are the target of censorship.

I agree that this "off topic" section is far and away the most interesting part on what is an excellent Web Site.
Well if anyone said that I would agree lol

Regarding Kissinger, see quote above, I heard him paying tribute to Arthur Schlesinger recently and Dr K's voice sounded as though he was gargling with tarmac as he spoke. Awful.
We have had experience of those trying to impose new world orders. DrK was right, many did die.
I believe the good Dr got a Nobel Peace prize.

Hello Seeks....

To be honest.....I haven't really noticed many on moderation, but then I only frequent this part of the boards. And I agree with you hands down.... the ''off topic'' part of the boards is by far the best part of the boards. I actually find the other sections very boring  ; }

That quote is there just to mock his punk-ass. If the Muslims cut his head off tomorrow, I'd have to say he probably deserved it. In my opinion, it's an understatement to call him evil.

Apart from preventing many of the personal attacks when discussions become quite heated (and off topic) I have seen instances where the mod's have pulled posts that have included the identifying details of the post-er or others - kinda saves the person from their own stupidity really. I actually don't mind that these boards have moderators and they seem to be pretty generous in what they do allow.  If we prefer a site where we can say anything we want without recourse I am sure there are other groups to join.

This site is great. Thank you owners and mods!

Personal attacks are plain wrong and the mods are correct in keeping this a decent place.
Ummm ... but have any of you noticed any double standards?

And now I know why I have a, not so secret, crush on one particular Mod.
