Nope.  People flame others for all sorts of reasons...I doubt that one's weight has much to do with it.

I was also wondering if it might be a chemical imbalance.

It could be just weight or lack of it might throw the body chemistry out of wack.

How many know their body mass index (weight to height) ?

I have noticed if I spend alot of time doing design work and eating fast foods it will affect My outlook and mood.

So yesterday I went to an art store and just walked around looking at different papers and equipment getting ideas....a departure from going to Borders and reading.

in one word - no. my self-esteem and confidence is high merely refusing to agree with the "standard norm" way of thinking (inside the box)

It is good to project positive thoughts about oneself....I know when I awas lean and mean I did have a different outlook on life...then again if I knew I would live to be this old I would have taken better care of Myself ;)

I never thought I would see it past 30.

i am overweight and my self esteem definitely suffers for it, however, as a naturally submissive female it is completely against my nature to be overly critical of or "flame" others here or elsewhere.  i think that weight has nothing to do with it.

Thank you for being couragous and directing the question in a positive manner.

So how might you approach your feeling down about yourself?

I remember one time I was in the elevator with a black woman and she said something like" you work with the short guy Bob right?.."

"I looked at her ad said I guess he is short...but I always justthought of him as just Bob."

As I went thru the opening elevator doors I thought it was some what ironic of a statement coming from her as we all wish to be percieved as Ourselves.

Perhaps the nature of flaming comes under the SAM heading?

People with weight issues have low self-esteem and is frequently the target of ridicule and humiliation. That would more likely lead to a submissive personality and would be unlikely to express themselves in a bullying manner against others.

That is my psychological opinion on the subject.

So why wouldn't they use wit and charm to overcome objections?

Is it something about passing on what they have been subjected to to another?

Some are built for comfort and others built for speed...I do not know if it can be pinpointed.

Would being an overweight submissive tend to lash out more?

What about a thin person that does not have what they want in a relationship?

I am overweight and I don't lash out at others- I think I'm a fairly nice person ( i would like to think ) I have self- esteem issues but they have little/ nothing to do with my weight. I love myself more now as I am a bigger woman than I did many years ago thinner, back in my drug- drinking years..

I was overly critical and had low self esteem when I was 120lbs, a size 3, and winning beauty queen contests.

Thank you...I think you are nice looking right now.

Now I am overly critical and have low sel esteem even though I am 200lbs and a size 14 and don't look a thing like my old beauty queen photos.

Life changes Us all though...life brings Us all sorts of things... We can not change what happens to Us but We can change how We react to it.

In other words, no, I don't think it has a darn thing to do with anything. If anything, my self esteem has been better since I got heavy because I've been asked out more often and by a higher calibur of guy. For example, I went on a wonderful date saturday with a truly drop dead gorgeous looking guy who treated me like a princess and turned out to be truly kind, intelligent, stable, looking for more than just sex, and all around wonderful. I never met those kind of guys when I was skinny!

I am glad to hear it. I do believe you are what you project yourself to be ...mental realm....

My low self esteem is not because of my weight....I think it has a LOT more to do with being abandoned by my father as a child which happened long before my weight problems.

Yes other issues can have sidfe effects...We deal with things that are uncomfortable for Us in many different ways.

Some have been hurt emotionally so they would rather have the pain of discipline than deal with the emotional side.

Just saw Dustin Hoffman on the show Actors Side and he was saying something along that very thoughts and how he was able to verbalize it through acting.

Either way, I have also always been very critical and snippish..and for the record, so is my mother who has never been over a size 3 in her life (and usually is closer to a size1). Maybe it's genetic or has to do with how we're raised?

I do think it can be combination of all...the question is not so much to come to a grand conclusion in pontificating some theroy but rather to explore how We percieve and pre judge....and wether We are open enough to examine and reafirm these beliefs and when needed change them.

Do people who sell things via links from their forum posts tend to post frequently in order to drum up business, even when they have nothing new, productive or relevent to say?
Is there a connection?

Actually I will donate one dollar for each item sold to Collarme.com to help defray costs of the Mod that is paid to watch My posts and help pay for the bandwidth.

I have been thinking about this for a time and seems I came to the conclusion last week...I am now posting it.

So if you chose to patronize then contact Me after you do and I will make sure it goes to them.

FYI I do not get the full amount from the sale. I get a SMALL portion.

Regardless of links or not I do post frequently.

Thank you for bring this up.

Anyone else have any ways of contributing to collarme.com financially?

Are you trying to pick a fight? Sure looks like it to me.

No I am not. If you read My past posts you know I am trying to evoke a thought process here of preconceptions and perception.

Many if not all of us are damaged by life and / or the way we were brought up and sometimes that may result in becoming overweight. So in some cases there may be a correlation - that would have to be researched, though.

Unfortunatly true

Being overweight because of hormonal causes or because of use of medication may also correlate with effects of the same on the mind - but that hypothesis also needs research to back it up or to disprove it.

Chemical imbalance

Then there are people for whom a large body mass is natural for their type of people. Nevertheless they may be damaged mentally because they differ from the norm, because people judge them for differing from the norm.

Genetics...bone structure

Also there are overweight people who are perfectly happy.

There are alot of skinny people that are unhappy

I guess that most disagreements arise because of misunderstandings. There are different types of people with different views of life and reality and because those views do not match and they cannot imagine having another view, they collide violently.

Great insight

Then there are differences in intelligence, in degrees of wisdom, in the ability to comprehend and to create, in the ability to perform logic, in emotional range and attunement, all of which differences can give rise to misunderstandings and hostility.

More great insight

This is a complex issue and though there may be some specific correlation with being overweight in some cases, there doubtlessly are many other causes that do not correlate with being overweight and that in fact may show an inverse correlation.

Very insightful ...thank you

As previously stated it is a process of thinking through perceptions and prejudgements.

Do you pre judge others?

Do you practice prejudices unconciously?

Since your question is posed to those in and regarding the forums;

I do not believe that being overweight has anything to do with how others react to others here. I do however believe that low tolerance for idiots [:D] may have alot to do with how others speak here.

i used to be an expert in equestrianism, but due to a bad accident & now a dibilitating disease i have gone from (104llbs) to a larger (156lbs) my self esteem used to be low but now i just reckon if Someone doesnt like me the way i am then all they need to do is walk away, i have a sarcastic mind & am quick witted so i can laugh off insults pretty easily....simple! self esteem sucks, but you are who you are & should always love yourself for being precious in your own unique way.

WTF??!!  Laughing trying to figure out what else will be attributable to being overweight.

I would think being a retard who lacks sufficient social skills to get laid once in a while much more efficient at pissing off people, and making them lash out...  So perhaps you could direct your research in that direction?   But I could be wrong.  [8D]  M

personally, i think it's more due to the shallow minds of people that think that overweight people aren't good people. some people can't see past a person's appearance. there's good people in there, if others would just look.

You should share you know...  But I'm not really into candy though, unless it's smooth chocolate or some other buttery scrumptuous dessert.     M
