I remember one time I was in the elevator with a black woman and she said something like" you work with the short guy Bob right?.."

"I looked at her ad said I guess he is short...but I always justthought of him as just Bob."

As I went thru the opening elevator doors I thought it was some what ironic of a statement coming from her as we all wish to be percieved as Ourselves.

Perhaps the nature of flaming comes under the SAM heading?

I wonder if the woman saw him as short because she was black, or was it because she was a woman, or was it because perhaps she was taller than him, or perhaps because he was short.  I wonder if she wants to be perceived as just herself rather than a "black woman".  Thoughts to ponder.

No i completely disagree, just cause someone may be overweight,it does'nt mean that, that particular person may have low self esteem at all.

Does being overweight influence the low self esteem and hence the lashing out at people being overly critical and flaming others in the forums?? Is there a connection? Ross
WTF??!!  Laughing trying to figure out what else will be attributable to being overweight.

I would think being a retard who lacks sufficient social skills to get laid once in a while much more efficient at pissing off people, and making them lash out...  So perhaps you could direct your research in that direction?   But I could be wrong.    M

I would imagine it would...so what has been your experience in this?

I imagine it would be better to not use the word "retard" to describe those that do not agree with your thoughts a better way of expressing yourself?

So what are you contributing to your research?

i used to be an expert in equestrianism, but due to a bad accident & now a dibilitating disease i have gone from (104llbs) to a larger (156lbs) my self esteem used to be low but now i just reckon if Someone doesnt like me the way i am then all they need to do is walk away, i have a sarcastic mind & am quick witted so i can laugh off insults pretty easily....simple! self esteem sucks, but you are who you are & should always love yourself for being precious in your own unique way.

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes....but I am glad to see you have a healthy attitude on things...showing wit is a higher form of expression rather than lashing out as others may choose to do.

It does seem that those that are not in control of thier life or emotions do not have the discipline to refrain from attempting to make themselves look good or feel better by hurting others in verbal attacks...which is sad.

I do not believe that being overweight has anything to do with how others react to others here. I do however believe that low tolerance for idiots  may have alot to do with how others speak here.

I still feel that each person has the respect and trust until they show Me otherwise.

I may not agree with what they say but I respect their right to say it...even in a manner that is not becoming or rude as it shows the inner self to all those to see for what they are..unhappy.

Tolerance is an art and if some do not have the discipline to do so they should just block or not respond rather than attack...then again some believe bad attention is better than no attention.

I know for a fact some are very brave in cyberville when they would not have the guts to say what they espouse in a face to face in person.

I would say that an over weight person has enough of a problems in the vanilla world then to seek a tongue lashing in the forums..OF courses just like every thing else there are excepitions..A fat chic with no social life and lives her life on line may think her shit doesn't stink and her importance is so great that she need to lash out at others.SO far in my brief visits to the boardsI haven't found this to be so..as always just the views of this ol" master and subject to change...bounty

It is a perception problem or perhaps it is previous experiences that they then rubber stamp others with.

Yes there is good in many if people just take the time to try...

Perhaps We wouldn't be killing each other all over the globe then...

And people wonder why We haven't had contact form alien worlds...who the hell would invite a race like this to their home to invade and polute with such hatred?

They can't even agree on the simplist of things and they expect to understand another life form?

Sad...but optomistic...

When people say they want to declare war on obesity they need to be careful not to make it a war on the obese.

A man without arms or legs is laying on the beach when along comes three lovely young bikini clad girls. They stop and look at him with sympathy.

The first girl asks "Have you ever been hugged" the man replies "No" she then kneels down and hugs him.
The second girl then asks "have you ever been kissed" he again replies "No", she then kneels and gives him a kiss.

The third girl then asks "Have you ever been fucked" he becomes excited but says "No" and she replies "You will be when the tide comes in"

So far it isn't an issue for me, but I'll let you know if it ever becomes one.
How about yourself?

I didn't do any such thing actually.   I was just throwing in additional factors the OP may have missed in developing his theory to inspire this socratic debate.
You shouldn't take it personally though.     M

I have a similiar story I was in an elevator with this black woman and she said something like "you work with that short guy Jeff right?

I looked at her and said, "You mean that money grubbing Jew from accounting?  I always just thought of him as just Jeff."

As I went through the door she said, "you look like your packin' some serious pipe for a white boy." I thought it was a very ironic yet accurate statement coming from that black bitch as we all wish to be perceived as Ourselves...Some People!

i am sure it does, but they may not be aware thats that is why they r angry, and if they r they would never admit it... if they insist really really hard that its not a problem then u KNOW it is. women of color r not as affected by being overweight cause we brothas like our thick girls, but white women in particular all see to feel they should be a size 3. this by the way is not just azzmasters view, but has been studied by socialogists. i like a thicker lady myself, only a dog wants a bone. the only thing bothers e about a fatty is specially the white ones need way too uch reassurance that they look good

What about those of us who were angry when we were skinny? I didn't become overweight until after high school but I have had anger issues and self esteem issues since I was a little girl.
