I doesn't appear this forum has a poll option (or I'm just missing it), so I offer up this question in an informal manner.

If you're going to play with a submissive/slave, does the person's gender matter to you and if so what is your preference?

Women have a higher pain threshold, in My experience (both in BDSM play and body modification such as piercing/tattoo).  I also get on better with girls, so it's always the fairer sex that catches My attention for a relationship.  For one-off casual play, at public events for example, a boy would do.

Gender is irrelevant. D/s is about power, not sex. Because of that, sexual orientation doesn't matter to me. I'm as happy Domming a female as a male.

My sub is a masculine male and I like that. But I also like a feminine female. So I could go either way since I'm bisexual. Both genders have their pluses and minuses.

While gender is for the most not an issue for me, since I have owned both male and female at one point or another, my favorite is a femenine male. Since I do not play casually, I have always found myself happiest in the long term with the femenine (and often femenized) males that I have kept.

As a primary slave/partner/lover I prefer women. I am attracted to one extreme or the next- very butch or very femme yet lately I find myself more open to things. Its always been about chemistry but I also want someone who expresses themselves well regardless if they are male or female.

I enjoy men as slaves but admit that its on another level. I feel that its intimate and sensual but I don't enjoy vanilla sex with men. Its different with women tho. I think that I am lesbian in the relationship sense and when it comes to certain levels of intimacy.

I'm probably not making no damn sense. lol

I think it's threads like this one that make me sometimes realize I'm pursuing a quixotic prize in relationships when the ones I most identify with tend to be more interested in women than men. It often brings up the thought that perhaps vanilla really is where I should be looking for what I seek.

I perfer androgynous individuals -- I don't find masculinity or feminity (or the stereotypes of these) to be very attractive. I'm speaking primarily about personality and interests here but also to a smaller degree about body type.

I don't like body hair on anyone -- shaving is a must.

I don't like very long hair on anyone other than me though I have had long-haired partners they had to have a lot of other qualities that strongly matched what I was looking for.

Sorry to be in the minority here, but for Me, it's men and only men.  I have never found a use for a female slave and I probably never will.  I know that sounds rather closed minded, but it's My preference.

I always find it interesting that when a question about gender arises people either reply primarily with answers about sex or about gender roles; very few actually discuss gender.

Of course the OP maybe unclear about the differences as well.

No D I don't think you should do that. I do think you should learn how you fit into those types. I've known/watched you a very long time. years and I think you would fit nicely in a woman poly family family serving two women. I really do. I'm not kidding.

My question was litterly about gender. It appeared to me that females were more in demand making harder for me to find someone to play with. But then when I actually sat down and counted, and determined that it was about even with most people not carring one way or the other.

This thread pretty much reinforces my hypothosis and it appears I had a case of the "grass is greener" syndrome. Thanks people.
