lighthearted -> forgotten songs (3/9/2007 7:26:41 PM)

what's your latest forgotten song(s)?  you know, the one you haven't heard or thought of in ages...

I know y'all are the shy and retiring types so I'll go first:

"When I Was A Boy" - Dar Williams --

I won't forget when Peter Pan came to my house, took my hand
I said I was a boy; I'm glad he didn't check.
I learned to fly, I learned to fight
I lived a whole life in one night
We saved each other's lives out on the pirate deck.

"Just Like Heaven" - The Cure...

"Why are you so far away?" she said
"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you
that I'm in love with you"

JerseyKrissi72 -> RE: forgotten songs (3/9/2007 8:10:36 PM)

"I Can't Smile Without You" by Barry Manilow   ...I love that song and haven't heard it in years..

RobertCloud -> RE: forgotten songs (3/9/2007 9:21:36 PM)

Okay... I admit... I liked Manilow's "Oh Mandy"

JerseyKrissi72 -> RE: forgotten songs (3/9/2007 9:23:06 PM)

Lots of love to a Barry Manilow fan[:D]

Morning just another day;
Happy people pass my way.
Looking in their eyes,
I see a memory I never realized
How happy you made me.

Oh mandy well,
You came and you gave without taking,
But I sent you away.
Oh, mandy well,
Kissed me and stopped me from shaking,
And I need you today. oh, mandy!

RobertCloud -> RE: forgotten songs (3/9/2007 9:31:14 PM)

"Heart and Soul" by T'Pau

JerseyKrissi72 -> RE: forgotten songs (3/9/2007 9:40:50 PM)

"We've Only Just Begun"   The Carpenters

We've only just begun to live

White lace and promises

A kiss for luck and we're on our way

We've only just begun

Before the rising sun we fly

So many roads to choose

We start our walking

And learn to run

And yes! We've only just begun

HydroMaster -> RE: forgotten songs (3/9/2007 9:56:11 PM)

The Macarena by whoever.....oh, where these supposed to be good songs?

RobertCloud -> RE: forgotten songs (3/9/2007 9:59:10 PM)

Doesn't matter whether they are good or not, but one you haven't thought of in a while. Maybe one you miss, or one you wish you could forget... lol....

soultoshare -> RE: forgotten songs (3/9/2007 11:23:18 PM)

ALRIGHT!!!!  Barry fans!  We're hard to find......I must have 4-5 CD's of him.  I'm partial to Weekend in New England, myself.

There was one done called "Waiting for a Star to Fall"....can't remember who did it, but it was the closing credit song for 3 Men and a Baby.  Loved it.....

SDFemDom4cuck -> RE: forgotten songs (3/10/2007 1:46:33 AM)

I just heard one today I hadn't heard or thought of in years.

Less than Jake by the Proclaimers

When I wake up, yeah I know Im gonna be,
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
When I go out yeah I know Im gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you
And If I get drunk, yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And if I haver whatever that means
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
To be the man who walked 1,000 miles
To fall down at your door

When I'm working yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money, comes in for the work I do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you
When I come home yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow old well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you

And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
To be the man who walked 1,000 miles
To fall down at your door

Surrender
Surrender

When I'm lonely yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's lonely without you
When I'm dreaming yes I know I'm gonna dream
I gonna Dream about the time when I'm with you
And if I get drunk, yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man that gets drunk next to you
And if I haver, whatever the fuck that means
I'm gonna be the man who havers next you

And I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
To be the man who walked 1,000 miles
To fall down at your door

Surrender
Surrender

When I'm lonely, yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man whos lonely without you
I'm gonna be the man whos coming home

Cuz I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
To be the man who walked 1,000 miles
To fall down at your door

Surrender
Surrender
Surrender

Then there's Billy Idol's Rebel Yell

Last night a little dancer came dancin' to my door
Last night a little angel Came pumpin cross my floor
She said "Come on baby I got a licence for love
And if it expires pray help from above"

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell- "more, more, more"

She don't like slavery, she won't sit and beg
But when I'm tired and lonely she sees me to bed
What set you free and brought you to be me babe
What set you free I need you hear by me
Because

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell- "more, more, more"

He lives in his own heaven
Collects it to go from the seven eleven
Well he's out all night to collect a fare
Just so long, just so long it don't mess up his hair.

I walked the ward with you, babe
A thousand miles with you
I dried your tears of pain, babe
A million times for you

I'd sell my soul for you babe
For money to burn with you
I'd give you all, and have none, babe
Just, just, justa, justa to have you here by me
Because

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried "more, more, more"

Oh yeah little baby
she want more

Oh yeah little baby
she want more

Eric Clapton's Brokenhearted.

When the wind blows down this hard,
Many a bond is broken.
See the water lie on the ground
From where the heavens opened.

Lord, how will you get through this night
With your dreams departed?
And who alone will comfort you?
Only the broken hearted.

So you've gone beyond your means,
Every wound is open,
Your best laid plans are out of reach,
And all your fears unspoken.

[Repeat First Chorus]

Sweet revenge is spoken then;
In the twilight it is gone.
To living lies with no escape,
Lord, I would rather be alone.

I press my fingers to the wood
To tell you of my dreaming,
To sing you songs from olden times,
To keep the love light gleaming.

'Cause there's a place where we can go,
Where we will not be parted.
And who alone will enter there?
Only the broken hearted.

Only the broken, broken hearted.
Only the broken, broken hearted.
Only the broken, broken hearted.
Only the broken, broken hearted.

Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

I'm on a Clapton kick it seems...have to put him on rotation on the Ipod.

Clapton's Promises

I don't care if you never come home,
I don't mind if you just keep on
Rowing away on a distant sea,
'Cause I don't love you and you don't love me.

You cause a commotion when you come to town;
You give 'em a smile and they melt.
Having lovers and friends is all good and fine,
But I don't like yours and you don't like mine.

La la, la la la la la.
La la, la la la la la.

I don't care what you do at night,
Oh, and I don't care how you get your delights.
I'm gonna leave you alone, I'll just let it be,
I don't love you and you don't love me.

I got a problem. Can you relate?
I got a woman calling love hate.
We made a vow we'd always be friends.
How could we know that promises end?

[Bridge]

I tried to love you for years upon years,
You refuse to take me for real.
It's time you saw what I want you to see,
And I'd still love you if you'd just love me.

[Chorus]

[Bridge 2x]

Where are you going, my little one, little one,
Where are you going, my baby, my own?
Turn around and you're two,
Turn around and you're four,
Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door.
Turn around, turn around,
Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door. Where are you going, my little one, little one,
Little dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone?
Turn around and you're tiny,
Turn around and you're grown,
Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own.
Turn around, turn around,
Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own.
(you may remember it as the Kodak song)

lighthearted -> RE: forgotten songs (3/10/2007 11:51:03 AM)

hehe...that reminds me of that song "kyrie"...or, "carry a laser" as it's know around here...

mnottertail -> RE: forgotten songs (3/10/2007 11:53:33 AM)

The wind blows hard against this mountain side
Across the sea into my soul
It reaches into where I cannot hide
Setting my feet upon the road

My heart is old it holds my memories
My baby burns agem like flame
Somewhere between the soul and soft machine
Is where I find myself again

*CHORUS*
Kyrie Eleison
Down the road that I must travel
Kyrie Eleison
Through the darkness of the night
Kyrie Eleison
Where I'm going will you follow
Kyrie Eleison
On a highway in the light

When I was young I thought of growing old
Of what my life would mean to me
Would I have followed down my chosen road
Or only wished what I could be
