What are your sleep patterns and habits?

HydroMaster -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 12:04:16 PM)

I get somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-5 hours on a good night.  Most of that is spend thrashing about violently.  Been that way since high school.  A friend once said that I don't sleep because I haven't found the right person to fall asleep next to....still waiting I guess.

missturbation -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 12:06:09 PM)

I don't fit any of those, i go to bed between 1am and 5am and it takes me around an hour or two to go to sleep. I then get up at lunchtime - mid afternoon. I snore and talk and wriggle an awful lot according to those unlucky enough to share my bed.

GeekyGirl -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 12:12:27 PM)

I work nights so mine are all messed up. Saturday morning, I come home and nap until noon. Stay up till about 1am. Sleep until 9am on Sunday. Go to bed around midnight, up at 8am on monday. Monday I usually stay up till 5pm, take a 3hr nap, then work all night. The rest of the week, I'm in bed from 8:30am to 4pm.

I am a big sleepy head, so I need 6-8 hours a night...but getting those is another question.

I checked the boxes for needing 6 hrs. sleep a night or less, and having vivid dreams and nightmares.  Often, my sleep is broken up.  Sometimes, I drift off while watching the news, wake up wide awake an hour or two later, stay up for a few hours, then get a couple more hours before work.  Some of my friends shake their heads in amazement when they see the times I am up and on-line replying to e-mail and making posts.  One asked if I ever sleep at all, and I assured him that I did.

I do often have vivid dreams.  Occasionally, I will have a vivid nightmare, but 99% of the time I have either pleasant or neutral vivid dreams.

Oh, I have also been told that I talk in my sleep a few times, but I didn't check that box because it is pretty rare.  One time, when I was taking an accounting course in college, my ex-boyfriend told me I was talking about accounting in my sleep.  Another time, I said the name of a man I worked with in my sleep.  I'm not sure why, because he was married, had like eight kids, and nothing had ever happened between us, but my ex-fiancee was not amused in the slightest.

I need atleast 8 hours of sleep but never get it lol. I work 4 PM to at least midnight. Lots of overtime so I work to 4 am alot. I do not have any time for naps. So I just have to be tired sometimes and catch up on my sleep when I can.

MistressFeathers -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 12:51:40 PM)

I need 8hrs + usually get 6hrs and under with quite a bit of waking up.  I can be falling asleep on sofa but by time Ihave walked upstairs be 100% awake.  I dream very vividly - colour, smell, tactile etc all singing all dancing dream experiences. I talk in my sleep and sometimes sleep walk.  I have been know to molest my partner while I am asleep as well.

littleonyx -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 2:32:41 PM)

I generally get between five and seven hours of sleep at night...I tend to sleep on my left side, on the edge of the bed (in a king size bed--go figure).  Um...I suck on my teeth when I sleep.  Sometimes with underwear, sometimes without.  Sometimes with clothes on, sometimes without.  Oh, wait...you weren't asking all of that were you?

I was just commenting on this elsewhere on the boards. I went back to school in October and am waiting tables to pay tuition and bills. It's an elevated program so coursework that normally takes 2 years to complete is smushed into a 9 month schedule. School from 8am to 2pm M-F and then to work anywhere between  4pm and 6pm then work until anywhere between 1am to 4am. Not a lot of time left for sleep after studying and homework. This past week there were days I didn't sleep at all. Or only got 3 or 4 hours spread over a 2 day period. It isn't unusual for me to get in an hour nap between work/school and then another hour before work and that's it for a 24 hour period.

Normally I have 2 days off a week but this last week or so we've been short so I've pulled some doubles and 12 hour shifts as well. Thought I was doing pretty well functioning until I ended up somehow sleeping through my alarm Friday morning and not waking up until Noon missing class altogether! I don't even remember actually laying down. Just woke up still fully dressed and across the bed. LOL.

Looking at my schedule I realized I hadn't had a full 24 hours off for over a month. I'm either at school, at work or both. Needless to say I had a long talk with the scheduling manager last night about making a more regular schedule with set hours and set days off during the week not to mention getting a full day off at least once every 2 weeks. Fortunately I only have 4 more months of this craziness and then I go to 4 months of internship. I figure I can get through anything when there's a light at the end of the tunnel to look forward to, let's just hope it isn't a train.

nyrisa -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 3:39:23 PM)

I work night shifts; sometimes 11 pm to 7 am, sometimes 7 pm to 7 am. At least twice a week I am up without any sleep for 24 to 30 hrs. On the days/nights that I do sleep, I usually only sleep about 5 or 6 hrs, sometimes as little as 2 hrs.

I have very interesting, detailed dreams, that I wish I could record because some would make good movies. There are sometimes I wake up, and am pissed because I want to know how the dream will end. If it is MY dream......from MY subconscious.........why in the heck don't I know the ending? Sheesh, what a rip off.

SilverShadows -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 3:58:57 PM)

I sleep between 8 and 16 hours a day. Have vivid nightmares and get kicked out of bed upto four times a night to walk them off.

MistressDiane -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 4:12:37 PM)

Generally I go to bed early, around 9ish but then I'm up in a couple of hours and that's the pattern for the whole night.  I'm usually up for the day around 5am sometimes 4.
I couldn't tell you the last time that I slept for 6 hours uninterupted 4 for that matter.
When I sleep I dream so vividly that I don't feel rested when I wake up.
It's crazy.

SilverShadows -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 4:17:07 PM)

So what is it with vivid dreaming and this group of people? Most people don't get it. I tell them a calm dream and they think I'm telling them a nightmare. Most people I've meet say they don't dream. But about 1/4 of the people in this highly scientific survey report vivid dreams and nightmares

litleone8620 -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 4:18:50 PM)

I get about 6 hours a sleep a night, have very vivid dreams/nightmares, talk in my sleep, and stil sleep walk, even though i was told that sleep walking generally ends in adolescence.

SDFemDom4cuck -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 4:19:58 PM)

Wait we could vote more than once??? Put me in the vivid dreams/nightmares category as well as the less than 4 hours.

Vendaval -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 8:19:54 PM)

Yes, you can vote more than once, Ms. Jo.
Please do take care of yourself, your schedule
sounds terrible.  Glad the end is in sight for you.

corsetgirl -> RE: What are your sleep patterns and habits? (3/11/2007 8:23:35 PM)

I need six to eight hours of sleep but sometimes, I stay up later than usual.  I don't know why as I was never like that as a child.  I work the typical 9:00 to 5:00 job. I think that will change because I am thinking of  becoming a teacher, which I will go to bed early.
