And if they really wanted to go there, it's easily pointed out that having religious beliefs are no guarantee of good, solid ethics, anyway.

A great book on this subject is "The Science of Good and Evil" by Michael Shermer. Check it out. =)

There's also the strong atheist: There is absolutely no god, no gods, period.

And the weak atheist: I'll assume there is no god until hard evidence proves otherwise

The only helmet with a cross painted on it I was ever interested in was on the head of a fmf corpsman.
