I didn't think that funding had ever been a problem for people who disagree with the GW conclusions, as long as they weren't particular where the money came from.

I do feel sorry for the legitimate sceptics, caught in the crossfire between legit proponents and fake sceptics paid by the industry.

Zensee -> RE: Ironic - Global Warming Expedition Called Off (3/13/2007 1:27:51 PM)

Well I just went out on my balcony and checked and it is flat, as far as the eye can see (I think what happened is when Einstein curved space-time he created the illusion of curvature).

What's more important, I am at the very center of all of it! I thought I was special but I can't be certain yet. Tonight, if the sky is clear, I'll check of the stars revolve around me too.

I'll get back to you.

Z.

PS: This is exciting!

Dissent exists on the theory of evolution also.  That does not make those who propose those dissents correct or considered legitimate within the scientific realm.  You of course realize that the vast majority of all reports saying that there is  'no such thing as global warming' are funded by lobbying groups, mainly sponsored by oil companies, correct?

and you accuse me of missing the point !!!!
You stated a few posts ago that peer review is a major factor that validates  the truth of the man made basis of GW hypothesis.
I responded by saying that a peer review is not "genuine" if only those who are already committed to the hypothesis review the literature.
What's wrong with that argument ?

Lets consider the cool appraisal of "things" by scientists.
Major computor catastrophe due to date problems at the new millenium.
Sars expected to be a World Wide pandemic.
They are at it again with Avian Flu right as we speak.
Something changes from 2 parts per million to 3 parts per million and a scientist if he sees his chance will shout from the rooftops about 50% increase in the probability of the given disaster. An example of this was MMR vaccines in the UK. One vaccine was manufactured to cover measles mumps and forgotten the 3rd disease. The consequence of intervention here was an increase in  mumps measles and the 3rd one. The disaster in this case was Autism linked to the injection !

If you don't consider the expense of 300 billion for remediation to be a catastrophe, you never tried to get the money from the Board of Directors.

Thompson: I thought you were beginning to come round to my way of thinking lol

I hope you realise that your post reads as though you are a member, possibly secretary, of the Flat Earth Society.
I'll bet Quantum Physics can prove the Earth is flat !!
So much for some branches of Science !!

Secretary my butt....I am the president....flat earth society chicks are easy.  I am old, ugly and poorly educated ....smart women are not attracted to that.  A man has to do what is necessary to score occasionally.

I believe the real problem was the fact that the expenditure wasn't necessary.
<Cool rational disinterested> "Scientists" almost concluded that WW3 was likely to occur.

I've often wondered what people did with all that bulk food they bought prior to 2000.

Well, as someone does corporate software development, and who DID a Y2K remediation on a software suite used for a vertical market, we would have been OUT OF BUSINESS had we not done the work necessary to get our software behaving properly.

So, I suppose while it's your opinion that the expenditure wasn't necessary, our Board of Directors disagreed.

Do you think our Board would have wasted the money without a real business-risk analysis? Without us going into the lab, cranking forward the clocks, and running a few business cycles through?

Had we not made the change, e.g.: Bills for policy renewal would not have been generated, nor any of the Renewal workflow executed.

We rotate it, out just like we did before Y2K. ( Oops... ) The Mormons got one thing right with that storage of a year's worth of food. The have many resources available. ( Lehmann's has grainmills. )

( Although if you'll nitro-pack the grain, why not just nitro-pack the flour, too )

seeksfemslave -> RE: Ironic - Global Warming Expedition Called Off (3/14/2007 9:13:53 AM)

farglebargle: two points...
The Russian officer refusing to accept what his instrumention was telling him, though interesting and dramatic I actually find  very difficult to believe as told..
That one man only was receiving such crucial information seems incredible to me.As I understand ICBM launch systems then is not the system automated up to the point of actual release, when cooperation between  "humans" is required.

With your regard to your business failing due to the Y2K problem I also find that "dramatic". Problems OK... but total failure ?

farglebargle -> RE: Ironic - Global Warming Expedition Called Off (3/14/2007 9:25:39 AM)

If the Bills don't get generated, revenue doesn't flow, and payroll isn't met.

Then we have no employees. People will put up with a lot of shit, by no paychecks really pisses them off...

There were several "Critical Path" issues resolved. I was never a "Planes falling out of the sky" extremeist, ( In fact, we flew to Atlanta for a NYE2K show, returning on New Years Day... ) but there were real effects that were avoided due to proper remediation.

Stephann -> RE: Ironic - Global Warming Expedition Called Off (3/14/2007 9:26:30 AM)

Erm, you must have changed something.

You'll need to go to your photos on the main page, and delete the main photos, until the blue one is first.  Then make a quick change to your forum profile's signature, and you'll be alien toned again.
