I actually took your thread as an opportunity to address members here in general.  The collar comment was in regards to a different post.

As for me, I am who I am.  lol.  It takes too much energy to maintain a front and as you have seen, they always come down eventually.

However, I must admit that if a person approaches me on the other side with a genuine interest in who I am or what I am about I approach them much differently.  I allow them to get a little bit closer and I actually am a very nice guy.  I tried to hide the fact for the longest time, but I started getting PMs on the other side that revealed that they had caught on to my little secret.  It did not take much to figure out that if they had, others had too.

So, the reality is this.  If I *choose* to let you into my space I am a very nice person, otherwise I very much live up to my signature.

As one of the newer posters, I will say that most of my first impressions have not changed.
The caustic and rude and know it alls, continue to be that way to me.
I never found them witty or fun or interesting.
Maybe they were years ago, but after a few months, my opinions have not changed, nor has
the way they normally post.
Lately I am more amazed at when they are "nice".  The change is frightening, I am used to
the nastiness, so when they are "nice" I am surprised.
What I have noticed is certain people and friends always get a pass, and those that are not
in their "in group" better watch out.

It saddens me that we live in a world where people are not welcome and whose very ideas and thoughts are too often ignored or ridiculed.  One would like to think, that on a site such as this, that it would be the perfect breeding ground for free speech and the sharing of thoughts and practices that others  might  consider to be outside  the "norm."  All who participate should be welcome, embraced as well as appreciated and yet far too many of you, out here, seem so quick and eager to dismiss these "free thinkers" with a snide comment or a malicious post.

I cannot help but recall when I was but a young Domiboy, and my Domidad sat me down...He stared into my eyes and said, "Son. you are going to meet people you think are weak and stupid."...It was a powerful message that I will never forget.

When I first arrived on the shores of CM my original profile was that of a Nigerian sub, "Brownsugasub69"...Some of you might remember me...However, It didn't stick. I  have evolved along with this site...And I can only hope that you all can find the peace and the "heart" that I have found when it comes to dealing with my CM brothers and sisters.

Peace and grace be with you all.

that's why I rarely post on a thread with more than 4 or so pages in replies...by then it has deteriorated to either a love-fest between a few members or a flame-fest between a few members...there's some threads I won't even bother with because it's from the same bitter/boring/annoying member(s)...

I've seen a couple now whose posts are now showing signs of- closed minded- nasty- snippy answers that in no way helps- belittling- cant be bothered to give a  teaspoon of  (perhaps) what could be  helpful to some one.Given different answers to same question ( with out stating it is because they have changed their mind about it.

i have noticed this as well.  It is funny though.  Although i noticed that some have changed for the worse, i have also noticed some who have changed for the better....somehow showing a more open mind in their posts (which i find really cool!)

Yes, my opinion of both has changed....some for the good, others for the worse.....and yes, the latter can be quite disappointing.

Bad day, week, month, decade, whatever.  A post is a moment.  See enough of them, you'll get a picture of where they come from.  Nobody's perfect.

My impressions of some have changed over time, for better and worse.  My own attitudes on some things have changed since I first started learning and exploring wiitwd here and in R/T and I suppose that would reflect in how I may conduct myself.

I've only been in here since June of last year so I don't have a "whole bunch" of experience in here compared to some but I haven't really noticed any differences within that time frame.

a post is just a moment, but it's your moment. you don't have to care what others think or how they react, but it can and does cause a reaction. imo, as big as the alternate universe of the internet is, it's still your little world. if you can live with what you put out there and not care about ramifications, post away. doesn't stop me from wishing for a friendlier universe, or from skimming over said posts.

This is right on the money.

Awww . . . isn't this sweet?  It reminds me nerds in high school banding together to complain about what jerks the jocks and cheerleaders are. In other words, they form their own in-group to bash another in-group because they don't like them.

So welcome to the club! Nice to see you becoming what you claim to abhor.

Really?  Never saw it.  But then i was never apart of any "group" and yet apart of them all.  Never saw that whole seperateness/bashing attitude, far as i know everyone got along.  Hell when i accidently lit some poor kids hair on fire, not one person gave me shit.  But it waaaaaaas funny.

The only time i've really seen that "cliquish" attitude is really from adults.  Adults and adults that claim its a HS behavior.  Interesting if you think about it.

There are a couple right now whom I used to look forward to. Now I cant believe how different they appear and what they post. Very disappointing

I do not know why it would make a big difference if people have troubles from time to time in how they post. There are many people here that my view of has changed in some way, mostly for the better, not the worse. I tend to try to look on the bright side of things and not focus on what I find disappointing. If I see something that is negative, that is because I choose to focus upon it and allow it to permeate my reality. I do in fact notice negative things, but I notice them less and less as time goes on because I choose not to focus on them. We get more of what we choose to see... in other words I find myself dwelling on that which I am grateful for, and ignoring that which I find disappointing...

But this post could seem highly unlike me because I am on pain meds for dental issues

PS, I agree with Rich, people have bad days, weeks, months, hopefully they do not have bad years or decades. There was a time a couple of years ago when I was going through some unresolved anger, I am not in that mindset anymore... but that did teach me a lot about cutting people slack.
