It is interesting that people blame him for inflation

People also forget that he appointed Paul Volcker, the man who tamed inflation and something of a thorn in Reagan's side, to be chair of the Federal Reserve.

The best leaders are those who do not seek to lead.  I  have been selected to lead things in the past, I think it is because I do not seek it, I will step up and assume the leadership role when I have to, but I am more than willing to allow others to take it from me because it was never my agenda to do it in the first place.

I think true leaders delegate, motivate, and inspire assertiveness in those that they guide and direct. The best leader is the one that leads the least in my opinion. The best leaders have taught those under them to lead themselves, be self motivated, and they continue to inspire the best from their people by demonstrating the way.

The most revered leaders in American and Roman history would be as I described above... George Washington was just as happy to be a planter as he was a general, he could have kept the presidency, but chose to step down and allow the democratic process to take place.

Cicero also was a revered leader of Rome during the Republic. He was made consul of Rome during a crisis within  the Republic... this position made him extremely powerful, and he could have kept it, but in doing so he would have negated his own Republican ideals... so he stepped down when the crisis was averted and retired to his estate. He was revered as a leader for stepping away from power, not by keeping it.

Leadership to me is not synonymous with power, those who seek power are often the most morally bankrupt and least inspiring of leaders.

Hello again;  Arnold does not have to do anything, to convince congress, or anyone;  all Arnold has to to is......be there for them. Them, being those who want to change the consitution. He is highly visible, and there are alot who like him, and would vote to re-elect him.

Arnold is just there.....that is all that is needed. He is the man for sale, the man for all seasons and reasons. Now, if the consituation is ammended, which is the agenda, it could be years later, who knows, but, the sooner the better, for those that want it so.

Planet Hollywood was just another competeing Restaurant, nothing special; their gimmic was a hollywood movie theme; and Arnold and troop were signed on in a limited partnership agreement as recompense for earnest money, for their image. Marketing ploy. Whether or not it got off the ground is immaterial. I only mentioned it, to illustrate how he uses his infulence to mislead a gullible audience.

It was almost the same with IGT. Arnold's image was to appear on IGT Terminator slots. IGT uses alot of themed slots. The slots never hit a casino floor, were not presented at any Gaming Show; yet Arnold sued for copyright infringement, IGT pleaded no contest and paid Arnold 20 million dollars, this just piror to his bid for CA governor.

IGT is one of the largest gaming operators in the world, it is inconcievable that IGT lawyers would allow such a copyright infringement situation to ever exist; since routinely they promote coyrighted images on their machines.

Bush has umbrella investment companies, one of his companies were to buy Station Casinos, and just piror to Bush running for president, the sale was...all of a sudden cancelled. The reason given, was, it would be unseemly for the president to also be the owner of casinos.

I am not arguing with you nor anyone; just relaying some little known facts, as they are. No arguement here.

I would define "leadership" as being -

The willingness and ability to analyze information and make wise decisions,
delegate tasks to the rest of the team, make the best decisions possible with
the information and resources available at that time and place,
being able to admit mistakes and correct the consequences of those mistakes.

When Monkeyboy and the Worst Congress in History (Rolling Stone, a few issues back) controlled the keys to the candy store, they were unable to get an amendment added to the Constitution to prevent flag burning.  I am not sure that at this late state of the game, said game being the plummetting of their popularity to the US citizenry, that they will be able to get a bill passed to allow Arnold to be the Presidenator.

The Republicans are going back to being a second rate party after the next election.  40% of their membership will leave the party when Giuliani wins the nomination, and it will be a long time before they have enough people to get anything to happen.  It will be the Democrats vs. a host of small parties like the Greens, Liberatarians, Republicans, Christian Fundamentalists, etc.

The person I'm most excited about is Obama...There is something electric about the guy.  It is a long political road to the nomination but I do like the guy. Just finishing  up "Dreams of my Father" and I hope this guy prevails. I think he can be tough enough to be his own man, lead, but show the compassion that has been lacking in the Presidency of late.....I think he has the qualities to make people want to do more and better themselves which is a rare commodity.

Domiguy, "electric?" I saw him on the news tonight and I thought he was a "Casper Milquetoast!" (i.e. dry as saltine crackers, boring.)
He just stands there and talks in a monotone like Henry Kissinger.
I bet he owns an Ant Farm.

Some great and very interesting replies on this thread from everyone! Thanks!
