What planet is Sen. James Inhofe, R-Oklahoma, who calls global warming the biggest hoax ever perpetuated on Americans on?

Doesn't he see what is happening all around him?

As Al Gore stated the only other statement that is as strong is that of the theroy of gravity.

Everyone one knows that "Friends Don't Let Friends Torture Republicans"

It is!
If the "U.N." wants to get their dirty, money-grubbing hands on this issue you *know* that there's  something very wrong there.
They have their own money scam on global warming going on, The Reverand Al better watch out, they don't like competition.
The Reverand Al actually said that? About "gravity?" lol
I wonder if he's growing breasts after 30 years of marijuana smoking?
They said he is putting on "weight", right?

OK He's an Okie, they're supposed to be dumb aren't they?

popeye1250 -> RE: What planet is Sen. James Inhofe, R-Oklahoma, who calls global warming the biggest hoax ever perpetu (3/21/2007 4:02:26 PM)

And Senator Inhofe was wrong too, it's not a "hoax" it's a scam.
And you can take it to the bank that they'll try to use "global warming" to extract more $money$ from Taxpayers!
A good Detective *always* follows the money.

Dr William Gray from the University of Colorado also says Global Warming is a scam. He is considered the world's most respected expert on tropical weather systems. The majority of meterologists also disagree with the global warming theory.

So Gore's claim that there is no scientific disagreement is incorrect and propaganda. There are plenty of scientists going on the record that are now starting to conduct their own studies on global warming and they are finding alternate explainations.

Scientific theories are either supported or rejected. They are never proven. That's the first rule of the scientific method.

There are certain things that dont seem to fit the theory. For instance, between 900 and 1300 AD the earth was several degrees warmer than it is today. There was no increase in flooding. There have been fossils found of tropical plants in Antartica. Which suggests that this planet use to be much hotter than it is today. So the world isn't "sick" like Gore thinks. The world is simply going through cycles.
Also consider the fact that our satillites have not recored an increase in atmospheric temperature in 25 years.

There is also little debate among scientists that the earth will again:
1. Go through another ice age. (overdue)
2. Go through a magnetic polar shift. (overdue)
3. Be impacted by a doomesday comet or asteroid. (overdue)

All three things are beyond our control and in the hands of god. And all 3 will have a devastating effect on every lifeform on earth.  We as humans have been on this planet for a blink compared to the age of the earth. This planet is 4.5 billion years old. We have no idea what it is doing. And to think we can claim that a warming trend of just the past 100 years is evidence that the world is going to end 50 years from now is completely stupid.

Might be a bad example.

Something akin to what we call gravity is experimentally proven to exist, but not reconciled within quantum theory.

In other words, it may be a case where there is no gravity, but everything sucks.

Ya gotta love Inhofe:

GORE REFUSES TO TAKE PERSONAL ENERGY ETHICS PLEDGE

WASHINGTON, DC – Former Vice President Al Gore refused to take a “Personal Energy Ethics Pledge” today to consume no more energy than the average American household.  The pledge was presented to Gore by Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, during today’s global warming hearing.

Senator Inhofe showed Gore a film frame from “An Inconvenient Truth” where it asks viewers: “Are you ready to change the way you live?”
...

“There are hundreds of thousands of people who adore you and would follow your example by reducing their energy usage if you did.  Don’t give us the run-around on carbon offsets or the gimmicks the wealthy do,” Senator Inhofe told Gore.

“Are you willing to make a commitment here today by taking this pledge to consume no more energy for use in your residence than the average American household by one year from today?” Senator Inhofe asked.

...

Gore refused to take the pledge.

They ask these weather guys on TV if they believe in Global Warming the majority of them will start laughing. More and more of them are going towards the cycle theory because that is what meterology is based on. It is based on predicting the climate of the future by studying the climate patterns of the past. That's all the computer models are based on when they do their weather forecasts. You got supercomputers looking at historical data and matching it up. And guess what...it's not perfect, but it is close. The weather works in cycles.
And if you look at the patterns of the past you will find periods of warming and cooling for the past several thousand years. You see climate patterns everywhere. And there are many phenomenons for which we have no understanding of like "El Nino." Hurricanes go in patterns of 30 years.

Again, the whole premise of global warming is based solely on a 0.6 degree rise in temperature over the past 100 years. But during this 100 years, there has been periods of cooling. In fact in the 1970s there was a panic that the world is getting too cold and that we were heading for another ice age. You had dumbass scientists claiming we need to find ways to melt the polar ice or else the world will start to freeze. I wonder if these same scientists are the ones now claiming the ice is melting too fast.

Now if these greenhouse gases are making the planet hotter, why do we keep experiencing these cooling periods that last for decades? So the global warming nuts claim, "But overall, the planet is warming." Ummm yeah! It's been warming overall for thousands of years! It's been warming up overall since the last ice age. It's a cycle! Soon it will reach a peak and start cooling again.

Sorry, but I dont drink the Kool-aid. And it seems as time goes on...more and more scientsits are starting to put the Kool-aid down.

What!!!??? Reverand Al wouldn't take the energy consumption pledge?
Well, you have to figure that with all that flying around in private jets and 12 vehicle caravans in SUVs that get 12 miles per gallon that he's probably ALREADY used 10,000 times as much dinasauer juice as the average American.

FUCKING HILARIOUS!!

No shit!  On every forum that i am on i have asked the same questions and made the same comments and all the global warming advocates quietly tuck their tail between their legs and run like hell.

Wanna see them run?

1) Since we know global warming is a natural cycle and we know we are going through a natural global warming cycle at this time how much has man created greenhouse gasses increased global temperature in addition to the natural cycle?   How much is natural and how much is man made?

2) How come al's cool global warming graph shows co2 rising to twice the value it has ever been and the temperature going down?  (but he tells us it is going up)

3) according to the laws of the carbon cycle as it gets warmer we get more clouds, that includes more cirrus clouds or the clouds that are extremely high that form ice crystals.   Therefore with more hi clouds with ice the suns rays are reflected back out of the atmosphere before global warming can occur thus regulating the temperature or even making it cooler.   (as al's chart seems to indicate)

Last, what a grandstand play for more gov control and corporate funding, come in on the tail end of a global warming cycle get us to spend shit loads of money and then show us that we got what we paid for!

fleecing the sheep...

republicrats, one gets us to pay for war the other for nature and both feed the corporation.   LMFAO

Simplistic and pathetic politicking to the gallery and completely irrelevent. What one individual does is neither here nor there while the legislators won't do anything about energy generation, industrial energy consumption and energy efficient transport.

Well, after reading all the responses, I'd like to add this:

It really doesn't make any difference who's right in this debate.

We can do better...and we should.

(And it costs less when we do).

farglebargle -> RE: What planet is Sen. James Inhofe, R-Oklahoma, who calls global warming the biggest hoax ever per (3/22/2007 5:37:47 AM)

Since Inhofe couldn't be bothered to listen to Gores answers to his questions, perhaps he's not really interested in them?

Barbara Boxer needed to explain how hearings work to him, like he was a dumb kid.

quote:

Inhofe asked Gore for his reaction, but then quickly cut him off saying Gore had taken up too much time. When Gore tried to go on, Inhofe repeatedly interrupted, adding, “I don’t want to be rude, but from now on, I’m going to ask you to respond…in writing.” Inhofe said Gore could respond verbally only if it was a “very brief response.”

Committee chairwoman Barbara Boxer (D-CA) finally intervened. “Would you agree to let the Vice President answer your questions?” Inhofe said Gore could respond when he was done talking, but Boxer wouldn’t have it: “No, that isn’t the rule. You’re not making the rules. You used to when you did this. Elections have consequences. So I make the rules.” The hearing audience applauded loudly

Real0ne,

What's even funnier, is Al's "carbon credits" plan, that some on the board are so happy to prattle on about.

You know how he works that, don't you?  It's a great scam!

There is no "official" carbon credits.  Anyone, any company can "sell" carbon credits, and claim that it is going "to reduce the carbon footprint".  Things that they can claim as carbon credits is the cost to plant trees, or investments in so-called "green companies" who are into alternate energy product.

So, what does Al do?

He starts up a company, which invests in "enviro" friendly companies.  Then, he buys stock in his own company, which he then claims as "carbon credits"!

Get that?  His carbon credits are actually him buying stock in his own company!

A great idea, btw, and one hell of a way to get others to invest in his company (I wish I had thought of it).  But as the prophet of global warming, a bit disingenuous, don't you think?

You know, I am not that attached to Al Gore, or his movement which probably does not go far enough... but this article is bullshit and prejudiced... just thought I would point that out. It would be like me posting a Dennis Kucinich link to prove something... although I would trust DK and his information before I would trust this (even the republicans laud DK's ethics and honesty[;)])
