ORIGINAL: MzMia Thats interesting hisannabelle, I have always heard most Asians only eat very small amounts of meat. I don't think the Chinese and Koreans eat much meat. Here is a cute link that I think applies to most Asian diets. Asian Diet thanks for the link! i am sure this is probably common of other asian diets, but in tibet, because of the climate and the inability to provide adequate nutrition from other sources year-round, the staple is pretty much meat and tsampa (dough usually made from barley flour). i am guessing this might be common in areas of mongolia and nepal as well, but i could not say for sure. from what i know, the tibetans are a bit weird in this respect. for some reason, the culture that comes to my mind when i think of not eating much meat is the japanese - i think maybe the island you were talking about earlier was in japan (i remember hearing something about the phenomenon awhile back). at any rate, i agree that meat isn't really prevalent in most other asian cultures (besides tibet). thanks again for the link! it's really interesting :)
