because I live in the middle of nowhere and there is no one to irritate me but an occasional gunshot from the various rednecks about.

I love my neighborhood because... there is an honest to god crack whore living on some rental property in back of me.
Are you sure WE'RE not neighbors? rofl
The way you said this stella could be misinterpreted as to whom the crack whore looked like, LOL

I love my neighbor becasue without them I never would have gain an appreciation for Polka, Samba, Salsa or Gangsta Rap (at midnight)
And Id never know who wanted the cock...

You two have me laughing and making snorting noises.  [sm=biggrin.gif]
See DV, now you're more diversely exposed than you were before...  Hope you can sleep through all of it.

I love my neighborhood because I don't need to fear open borders, or worry about what it feels like to live around majority hispanic/hispanic speaking population.
Fortunately, my siblings and I are equally strange, we all look at one another with wonder and confusion, it's great. [:D] M

I love my neighbourhood for all its colourful characters.....

The homeless alchoholic who pisses and shits in the street
The drug addicts with their furtive eyes looking for weakness in passersby
The mouthy kids aged 6 and up who will tell you to "fuck off cunt" if you look at them the wrong way
The parolees who are stuffed into the decaying apartment block over the road
The "care in the community" psychiatric patients wandering and talking aimlessly
The hardline Muslim guys who glare at me because I'm taller than they are and clearly not cowed
The nicer Muslim guys who stare at me because in the sunshine I have long blonde hair worth many camels
The wonderful young guys who come from Birmingham at the weekends to steal cars
The drunken yobs who shout and vandalise their way up the road from the bars in town of a night time

And then there's the scenery....

Queues and queues of standing traffic
A decaying line of weavers' cottages over the road from the 18th century that they wont renovate or demolish
The polka dot sidewalks, with their jaunty juxtaposition of black tarmac and white chewing gum splodges
The dog shit, strewn up the sidewalk and the empty beer cans and the litter blowing about

And the facilities....
Take aways for every type of food of every origination
A fine old English pub (well, mostly Irish), where a pint and a fight is only a few minutes away
Two betting shops and a cheque cashing shop when social benefit cheques are welcomed
Our local shop called Bargain Booze, as thats the main dietary element round here
Two sex shops and a place to sell stolen cell phones
And I nearly forgot - two "coffee houses" where not much coffee is drunk

What a wonderful place!

I love my neighbourhood, because you can study the local hooligans and hoddies all in the same place. Or you can see them playing football (soccer) against the wall.

Yep. My town was built on carpet making and these cottages (delapidated ramshackle derelicts) are allegedly some of the earliest built by/for the weavers in the 18th century. Theyre protected, but left to fall down! Right now, theyve been surrounded with security fencing for over a year and signs saying "dangerous structure - keep out", yet they wont do anything with them! Meanwhile we have an industrial museum not ten miles away that specialises in taking buildings down and rebuilding them as they were that could take them, and these decrepit cottages are not only an eyesore that adds to the general poor appearance of the area but also holding up the whole redevelopment of the neighbourhood. But then, we dont vote the right way in the local council elections you see......

E

edited to add; if you do a Google Images search for "Horsefair weavers cottages" you can get a couple of pics of them. Enjoy!

i LOVE my neighbours because................

*Voice of Eric Cartman frm South Park*
'They help me realise that i don't really need sleep and they show this by opening the doors to their luxury flats which the government pays for due to them being released into the community (mental halfway house) and blasting their reggae and other various strange musics at between the perfectly acceptable midnight to sometimes 6 am when they know its ok to stop and let people go to work etc, they have shown me that anger is just not a credible avenue of investigation, ringing the enviromental agency or 'noise' police dosent really have any relevance to them, they have shown me that these'delusions' i have about the concept of respect really dont exist and in FACT it was ME who should have been in there as i walked out of my house at 4 am and shouted as loud as i could at them and threw stones at them.....

thank you neighbours i love you [:)]

Now SCREW you guys ....i'm going home [sm=sodoff.gif]

FukinTroll -> RE: i love my neighborhood because..... (3/23/2007 12:27:22 PM)

Okay so mixi is or is not a crack whore? I am thinking not because she just wont go near that crack.

Bearlee -> RE: i love my neighborhood because..... (3/23/2007 12:40:40 PM)

I love my neighborhood for the wild turkeys in my front yard, and the river next door,
For the coyotes and big cats I occasionally hear late at night,
For the deer who live with us in town, for whom I must slow down when driving,
For the owls I hear and the bats I see; and the big ol’ vultures who roost in the tree on the corner,
And for the bears who wander down the street from time to time.

On balance, I do NOT love my neighborhood for:

The lack of good restaurants, sidewalks and places to buy good bread, cheese or wine,
The ubber-conservative politics and religions of most of the people here,
For the lack of concern for recycling, light pollution, waste of water and other natural resources; including the killing or removal of the very wild creatures many moved here to be closer to, or that people here think it’s kind to allow their dogs to run loose.

I declare this the best gag based on a former thread, for this month.

I would have said wisecrack, but far be it for me to compete with troll humour!

I love my neighborhood because I'm new here and nobody knows my name[:D]  ..it's quiet and I can actually hear myself think.

Vendaval -> RE: i love my neighborhood because..... (3/23/2007 2:48:39 PM)

My lifetime insomnia problem has gotten progressively worse
from non-stop night noise due to the following:

#1 the frat house around the corner
#2 proxmity to a liquor store and sports bar
#3 students stealing shop carts from the grocery store
and riding them up and down the street
#4 the skateboarders jumping off and on the steps
#5 people screaming on their cell phones
#6 car alarms
#7 car crashes
#8 the fire station a few blocks away
#9 noisy neighbors throwing big parties
#10 drunken fights
#11 drunken sex
#12 people puking outside from being too drunk
#13 people smashing bottles during fights
#14 the cops showing up to investigate #1, #6 & #9

They don't call this the "student ghetto" for nothing!

LadyEllen -> RE: i love my neighborhood because..... (3/23/2007 2:52:53 PM)

Is the US approach to all this anti-social behaviour anything like that in the UK though?

(not a plug for my thread on the subject, honest!)

MistressFeathers -> RE: i love my neighborhood because..... (3/23/2007 3:39:46 PM)

um I live in a nice-ish neighbourhood. Guess I'm lucky

ok I have now read the thread properly (damn dyslexic brain not liking the lack of sleep it has had the past week).  I'll be back with the appropriate response ... later x
