When it rains...it pours..so is my life...They put me on anti-biotics to make me better then I end up with a yeast infection..ok, we cured that problem..then I got so constipated I was ill yesterday and had to go into the hospital-- was allowed to leave this morning...I had a fever of 102 and I'm no longer constipated lol...won't give you any details there lol....but I never felt such pain in my life..felt like I had a 200 pound weight strapped to my tummy and cramps like I was in labor..damn...one of the many lovely side affects of medications....I'm feeling much better this morning, managed to eat a lil breakfast but my tummy is still a little "ugh"...I'm alive for all those who worried bout lil ole me.

Aw Krissi I'm sorry you've had such a 'crappy' time. Sorry I couldn't resist that word hehehe. I am sorry tho, I know well the results of antibiotics  .
Make sure you don't eat a lot of sugary foods while the yeast infection is active, no sense in feeding it!
Hugs n take care of yourself.

Limit your diet to plain vitamin C tablets, plain yoghurt, plain meat, green vegetables, chicory, potatoes. If the potato variety causes problems, then switch to another variety. Do not use a microwave oven.

Stupid question.  What exactly is chicory?  Isn't it some sort of a tree?

It's a root used for coffee. (very popular in New Orleans)

Ohhhh Jersey. I'm sorry to hear about your illness. Make sure you get plenty of rest and LOTS of fluids. Take care of yourself!

I usually have three litres per day. However, as long as you suffer from constipation you should not take too much yoghurt. Better not eat anything at all to give your intestines a chance to heal. And stop eating seaweeds.

It has a weird chemistry and with your symptoms - mentioned in an earlier thread - you do not want the chemicals that it produces.

What exactly is chicory?

Cichorium intybus var. foliosum
It is a white, leafy vegetable that is grown in the dark. So when I said "limit your diet to green vegetables", I had to make this exception.

Perhaps they are. In some cases of arthritis they are not. Better pay close attention to how your body responds to the food that you eat. Keep a food and ingredient diary and try to link your diet to your symptoms.

You did not see me recommend you to eat pits or seeds or nuts, did you? Why do you suppose that is?
Did you see me recommend that you eat cereals? Why do you suppose that I did not recommend that? Myself I usually eat a box of cookies of a specific kind each day, but other kinds simply are not safe, and as you live in a different part of the world I cannot tell you what kind of cookie is safe for you to eat.

As for cakes: they usually have ingredients that you absolutely need to avoid. The sesame seeds may have exacerbated the symptoms. I always remove them when I infrequently eat a piece of bread that has them on it.

As for the constipation: I think that it was caused by a number of factors coming together and the cake may have been the final drop. In any case you now have a chronic problem in your intestines. When you eat the wrong kinds of food they now will not only stimulate your other symptoms, but they may also trigger the afflicted areas of your intestines. A dog that has hurt its leg walks on three legs. An intestine that is hurting will stop functioning. This is why I recommend not to eat for a while, so that your intestine may heal. Your intestine is most sensitive to the stuff that stimulates your disease, as its concentration is highest in that part of your body.

Keep yourself hydrated with water, Gatorade and juices mixed with
water.  Keep your foods simple and easy to digest, soups, plain
bread or rice and the like.

Glad you got out of the hospital and are now home.

Take care of yourself.

Do not follow the advice of Vendaval. Water will not harm you and is a necessity. I have no idea what Gatorade is. The other stuff will harm you.

Vendal recommended drinking water.
Krissi, are you aware that there are laxatives, gentle ones, on the market.  I had to take one the day before colon surgery.  It was called magnesium citrate.  I'm just offering options for you in case you have this problem in the future.  You may want to ask your doc if he/she recommends anything specific.  Of course if you think there is a blockage or serious problem, you are correct in going to the hospital.

Please krissi, do what your DOCTOR recommends you to do, since he or she personally sees you and knows exactly what is wrong and will be following your progress in person in the future.
