Prior to surgeries, many patients are instructed to drink a liquid magnesium citrate in a small bottle to clean out their insides. They can be found in many drug stores and super markets. Follow your own doctor's orders. BE SURE TO STAY WELL HYDRATED! I use a combo of Magnesium Citrate & Magnesium Oxide pills (when I take my protein shakes & Calcium Citrate) to keep me regular, BUT....... this is just what I do for me in my circumstance. P.S. Also, I have heard a lot of people using a stool softener along w/ a gentle laxative. quote:
ORIGINAL: KatyLied Vendal recommended drinking water. Krissi, are you aware that there are laxatives, gentle ones, on the market. I had to take one the day before colon surgery. It was called magnesium citrate. I'm just offering options for you in case you have this problem in the future. You may want to ask your doc if he/she recommends anything specific. Of course if you think there is a blockage or serious problem, you are correct in going to the hospital.
