And look what's happening to their Poster Child, Alberto.

I remember Linda Chavez... I think that was her name, wasn't it?

I needed to google her, I learned a new word.

"Vendida"

That's "Sell-Out", in Spanish.

And WTF? Her husband's a Jew, but she's a Catholic, and they raised their kids Jewish? It doesn't *quite* work that way...

I heard her speak on NPR about how the Republican party was a natural home for Latinos because of the family values aspect... almost made me want to ----->

Love new words.

Never would have thought I could say "The Republicans got plutoed in the last elections."

It is all good.

Greetings Bull (insert proper Gorean opening)

It may well be that powerful Republicans are pulling strings behind the scenes, to position for the next election. The same may be true for the Democrats. Looking at this vote that just passed, establishing a timetable for withdrawl ... that just has to be pretty questionable, from the point of view of the military. I would imagine that a lot of people voted for it, because they knew that it probably won't make it out of the Senate, and on the odd chance that it does, President Bush will undoubtedly veto it.

Of course it will be vetoed and wont become reality.

What it will do is force everybody in both houses of Congress and the White House to stand up and be counted as to their position on the war.

If the war goes wrong (I am being nice using the word "if" but I dont really want to upset the True Believers in Democratizing Mesopotamia) all of these people will face questions as to why they supported the war when they are up for reelection.

Gore never supported the war in Iraq, Clinton and Obama did.  If it ever goes to being debated, guess who comes off looking like a rose.

Caitlyn, you have to remember that the congress(Pelosi and Reid) decides what laws and issues they are going to deal with, not the President.  Do you think Congress has any intention of giving bush a win?  All the Democrats in Congress are going to do for the next 2 years will be geared towards the 08 election.   Which means we will watch a series of meaningless events as the Dems posture to the various factions in thier party, which will probably result in the Rep candidate being elected.

Obviously ... but a President that wanted to win, or even knew how to win, would be talking about this in the media, to either, a) force their hand, b) make them look like obstructionists.

Caitlyn, he did win, and is not running for office again.  Since you agreed with my post, I assume you agree with the second part also, why should Bush intervene if the Dems are engaging in menaingless posturing for thier factions?  It seems to me he is saving his remainning capital for Iraq issues.

I might be wrong Firm ... but I think you are Dumbkuckistan.

I'm coming up with my own term ... FullO'Shit'istan. This is for people that think President Bush is full o' shit, and are willing to be equally full o' shit, just to get rid of him.

Just so you don't think I'm switching sides  ... I want to make it clear that I too think President Bush is basically full of shit, and I don't even have to mention Iraq to make my case.

1. He claimed to be a man that is willing to compromise and work with the other party. Apparently, his idea of working with the other party, is to tell them what to do, and get pissy when they don't blindly do it.

2. He said he would control spending. Do I really need to continue on that topic.

3. He drastically misrepresented his record in Texas. He didn't create anything in Texas. All he did was spend the surplus built up by Mark White and Ann Richards.

So ... I too think he is full of shit, and has major character issues. I'm just not willing to be equally full of shit, just to get him out of office. (and don't have to ... his days are numbered)

Take a map of the United States.

Paint in every state which voted to elect Monkeyboy with red paint.

The red area would be Dumbfuckistan.
