That's how many criminal illegal aliens are estimated to be in the U.S. that our government "can't find."
The director of immigration said however that that agency "could handle a guestworker program."
Oh yeah? How, may I ask?
This is just another indication that Big Corporations that want what is basically "slave labor" have way too much influence in our government.

Ok if these illegal immigrants are commiting crimes then they must have some idea where they are!! You know somewhere near the crime scene!!
They may be committing crimew because its there only way to survive. Maybe your government should be thinking about helping them.
Recent reports say that the USA have only made things worse in Iraq so them flitting to the USA - payback??

Some of the best hands I have worked with were folks whose papers were questionable. I now know for a FACT they were illegals, but it wasn't for me to say.

Bottom line, those guys take jobs that we don't want or are too proud/lazy to do and they bust ass and smile about it.

As for the criminals, shoot'em! Send their carcasses home to their Country of Origin . That way you KNOW they won't be coming back. then again that's not a very PC viewpoint. That's a viewpoint from a Texan that lives side by side with illegal aliens in his own community that has seen exactly how much crime an apartment complex full of illegals can commit. Why doesn't our Government keep track of them? Because then they'd have to claim RESPONSIBILITY for them being here and expected to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Tenire, no-one is saying that illegal aliens from whatever country aren't "nice people."
That's really not the issue.
The issues are that they are breaking our laws just by being here, forget working.
Also, there's the issue of our government not doing it's job.
I watch a lot of news shows, Congressional hearings etc and all I hear is *excuses* from well paid people in suits as to why they can't or won't do their jobs!
We never got to say that shit when I was in the U.S. Coast Guard.
You'd be court-martialed if you didn't do your job. Nothing happens to those empty suits evidently!
I just think that if these people can't or won't do their jobs then they shouldn't be working for the government!
They either need to resign or be sacked!

Americans has had problems with illegal immigrants since they came over and took their land. Who invited them over anyway?

Its interesting that US is closing the boarders and using people whom have been here long before the US was a nation to do so. Is the government trying to keep folks out or keep you IN?

I would be inclined to agree with you Popeye. as to my own beliefs the only people fit to LEAD a nation are those who would FIGHT for that nation. Why not link Conscriptive Service to voting rights AND citizenship? it would certainly give an appreciation for what it's all about. However the Bleeding Hearts would throw fits about it.

The farmers in Colorado a few weeks ago were asking the state if they were going to turn out criminals from the prison to pick the crops. Since the crack down on illegals they had no one to do the harvest.

That brings up another pet peeve, K..... Prisoners living off of our tax dollars.... Why CAN'T they farm and harvest crops? WHY did they shut down self sufficient prison farms in TX? Thank you Bleeding Hearts.

Look at the people who are running for president.
They go to "YALE" and think that makes them a "leader."
Or law school.
Look at Senator Aba Dabba from Illinois. What's he done?
He's Black so some people are "excited" about him.

Since so many are trying to come over here and we need them as to do work that other Americans would not do what ever happened to indentured servants? If someone whom can support the new candidate American would support him/her then let them in. Wow, bondage games? Wonder what else they maybe good for? Workers on jobs that another American would not do? Or just workers that work for less than minimum wage--would that just make "The Man" richer or keep the poor POOR? I believe that is the way that the government can insure all the taxes are being paid and collected!!

I sure no one here has ever worked for cash, room and board, or just for food for the day..

Are Americans willing to pay more for goods and services provided by a legal worf force?

Or is the problem that..... there really is no problem? Meaning Who hass actually been affected by this plague of "illegals"...I seem to get quality healthcare...I don't see people bitching while watching Hispanics work and saying..."God, I would love to have that guys job!...I don't see the crime rate escalating due to illegal immigration.

People are bitching about crime.... In Chicago it has gone down! Crime rates are numbers...not percentages which are hard to believe.

I think people should come here by legal means or should be returned immediately...But I don't see this issue has having much relevance or effect on very many of us.

I just think it is just the latest "thing" for people to blame for their "lot in life.".....

Domiguy, the farmers either pay the price for going rates of local labor or their crops rot in the fields.
Last time I checked I didn't realise that Farmers were exempt from the laws of economics, supply and demand, or capitalism.
I have to laugh at people who think that farmers who use illegal aliens are "passing along the savings to the consumer," ah,...they're NOT!
They put that money in their pockets! Wouldn't you?
In capitalism if you can't find labor at a certain rate of pay you raise that rate of pay until you can get help.
You don't hire foreign nationals who've snuck into our country and will work for less than American Citizens which is a federal felony by the way.
If I were a Farmer or Contractor and I found out that my competition were using illegal aliens I'd rat them out in a New York minute! I'd go to the Prosecutor's office, state police, and Immigration office personally with pictures etc. Then I'd have all their work and send them a post card in federal prison.
If you're in business that's what you want to be doing anyway, eliminating your "competition!"
The thing is how does Homeland Security or whoever it is these days think that they can run a "guestworker" program when they have 623,552 criminal aliens on the loose that they can't find?
I think that that empty suit was deliberately lying!
Govt agencies don't want additional responsibilities with no more money to operate on.
His testimony just tells me that the big business lobbyists have gotten to him.
And, I'm sick and tired of hearing people in government comming out with excuses why they can't do their jobs!
I think that being a Farmworker should be a career in the U.S.
Fresh air, excercise, a benefits package, and $16-$20 per hour is better than working in a 7/11 for $9 per hour, right?

As for the illigal part and the Gov't not doing there job I agree with you. They seem a bit inconsitant in policy. However, If we assume that they could do something about the 622,000 and enforce to a sufficant degree what ever immegration laws they had , would you still be opposed to a guest worker, or similar program to bring in immigrant labor, and what if by doing so it incresed control, and the ability to collect taxes, etc.

623,552? Verily: I am shocked. I would have expected at least two decimals.

So: 0.6 million approximately. Are those people that have commited crimes, or people that are illegal? What is the average size of a USA prison these days? Ten thousand inmates? Then the USA must build another sixty prisons.

Of course it will cost a lot to build prisons for illegal aliens and to maintain and support the inmate populations, whereas it is profitable when they are not in prison and contribute with their labour to the economy. Do you still consider illegal aliens to be a problem? If you do, it will cost you; if you don't, you will profit from their cheap labour.
