I used to go to this other message board all the time, it was a Star Trek message board. The show was starting to stink pretty bad with Enterprise, so I spent most of my time in the general discussion or scifi section, almost everyday for two years. Then one day, I got banned. This moderator didn't like me because he disagreed on a political discussion and gave me six warnings in one day, which is an instant ban(temporary though) and that broke the spell and I never went back. I think I had one warning in 3 years up to that point.

Do you spend everyday on this message board? Are you addicted to it? Is it the first place you go when you start the computer? I visit the main site almost daily, but I only visit the message boards every few days here.

I know what you mean. I'm stuck working at my computer most days so I log on to CM because I hate working on CAD drawings, I'm not much of a fan of computers, fullstop but one has to keep up with the world. Now I've been 'moderated' I hardly log on except for the odd couple of minutes and I think I've been cured. I do my computer work three times as fast and get down to the haven for a beer. (the luxury of working for oneself which was also the downside of being able to distract myself for hours by logging on too.)

I was at one time.  The quality has diminished so much since then.  A lot of good people have left.
Each day here it gets easier not to be here as long as the day before.

Yet, I hang on and hope the conversations pick up again...if they do I'd be addicted in a heartbeat.

*LOL...  These forums no..  Do not have time.  Too busy keeping up with about 300,000 kids on a game site i admin on and work as  a game designer on.

Something like 15 hours per day.

i have four boards that i visit regularly; i'm a moderator on two of those and an administrator on one. i've been on one for about 6 years, one for about 3 years, and the one i started several months ago, and then here (although i used to be a member here under another nick). i used to be a member of a whole bunch of other boards, but i have managed to cut it down to these...and i'm happy with that. i check the board i own and the one i've been on the longest once a day to once every couple of days, as they're not terribly active. this one and the other that i moderate, i check daily, sometimes several times a day. this is definitely the most active one of all of them, though. the other ones are smaller, more close-knit and homey. i've met members from all of my other boards except this one, too ;)

yep, my boards are one of the first things i do in the morning. i don't think i'm really any less reliant on technology than many other people, though - the fact that two of my jobs (designing and bookkeeping) rely on the computer means that some of the time i spend online is work-related. a lot of it is also school-related. usually when i'm doing work and school stuff i'll stop in to check boards every now and then, just because i like being able to keep up with the discussion.

am i addicted? maybe. it doesn't keep me from doing the things i need to do, though.

i spend a ton of time on message boards... it pretty much takes the place of normal social interaction for me. i'm a bit limited on this one, though, because i don't view it at work, and that's where i spend most of my waking hours [:'(]

 yep I am, I must peek in here at least once a day, usually.
Often I am busy or tired, I might not type much.
To be honest, I rarely feel like typing more than 4 or 5 lines.
But I enjoy reading many of the threads when I can.

I could become addicted to it. I have had some nights where I've stayed up way past my bedtime because I got involved in some heated discussions. Now I make it a point to take off a day or two (or three) away from the boards now and then at least once a week. We maintain sanity only by achieving balance in our lives.

Addict might be too strong of a word but certainly a lot of my free time is spent in front of a computer and one of three message boards running at least. I though can say I have never not done something because I would rather be typing away on a message board though, but I certainly cannot see me ever not being active with at least one board.

As for message boards themselves they all have basic cycles. From mostly positive to mostly flaming and in between, from mostly people I like to mostly people I do not care for and in between and from genuine openness to judgmental cliques, message boards just go through periods of differences. I also will get tired of certain topics or endless variation of topics. When the negatives are too much it is easy for me to just stand back and wait out cycle and to recharge my batteries.

I used to be addicted to this one and was spending way too much time here. Hubby made me leave for 6 mo. and since i have returned i limit my time and only follow the threads that apply to me or look very interesting. I also belong to a South Beach diet board but it doesn't take much time each day.

I have become addicted I beleive but when I first started reading the threads there were more in the section I usually go to and it has slowed down a bit so I am not on here much but it is the first place I go when I log on. I also am addicted to the internet since I am currently unemployed and looking for a job it is kinda easy to be addicted to the internet.

I love these boards!  I usually skim thru them just to get a good chuckle...or downright laugh!  I learn things here, and it's a good way to "mingle", even if I lurk alot of times just reading.  It's easy to spend an hour or two here, I usually do it before bedtime.  I belong to two other sites, but these are the boards I read with any regualrity.
