Yeah, but we are talking about a wife, not ‘just a submissive’.   I’ve been thinking of this as a partner…something more than a submissive; whether or not we were actually married.

While I realize all people operate differently, and when I merely play with submissives for the fun of it, I don’t have sex with them either.  But when I am in a relationship with someone, then they are my partner in all ways.  That would be the only way I’d live with one, too, I think; regardless of who worked outside the home.  In this day and age, it’s likely to be both, anyway.

Funny though, last week I received an odd note:  The guy says he has limited computer access, and so left his actual name and address so I could reply to his letter.  He went on and on about how he could serve me, but currently lives in a halfway house a few hours from here…and was hoping I’d pick up the keys and keep him under house arrest!  Yeah, that he’s been convicted of a felony seemed proof to him of his earnestness; that if he blew it, I could get him in real trouble with the law; I’d be all powerful, if you will (Goddess that I am, he said).

He went on to tell me he’s got Schizophrenia as a result of a chemical spray in the Navy (?), and gets paid disability…and so he’d be able to pay his way with me!  He was rather proud of his ability to totally sacrifice himself to me.  I wonder if he expects sex?  I dunno, but if any of you are interested, write me on the other side, he asked that I offer him to others, if I was not interested.  I’m not.

I am sure there are other ways to render someone totally under your control. Fun to fantasize about, but really scary. Glad to see your being cautious.

Many men can do housework, and sometimes do it better than the women. This would be the least of worries about being a male wife, in me humble opinion. This isn't the 50s, men to eat quiche.

This has been a very enlightening thread for me.
1. My first vanilla marriage I had wanted a house hubby but didn't know it ... I just thought he should be doing 1/2 of all the work ... Thus the marriage was very short.
2. This marriage started very vanilla but has evolved over the years. hubby started taking on more of the wife rolls when I went back to school. This is what started the change ... We are a BDSM D/s couple ... when he is home he does the cooking, cleaning, and laundry I will allow him do. He doesn't do somethings I way I would do them ... I'm a perfectionist enough said. His job is where he's out of town for a few weeks at a time then maybe off  for a few weeks ... I just realized that when he's out of town is when I'm complaining I need a wife ... duh!
3. I really thought I was only one who wanted this ... I have mentioned this to a couple of lifestyle friends but they just giggled ... they were subs.

I think it's a good point to be made -- that if you kind of lay out the roles and have expectations, I would imagine the chances for failure are higher. It's a lot to define and so much depends on the natural skills or inclinations of both people.

My ideal when I got married was that I'd be the primary breadwinner and my husband would be a career man also - but since I am not domestic at all, I suspected we'd be dual income, no kids, with a paid maid and probably a cook or go out to eat a lot.  He had no problems with this.  He was from another country and living with me while we were engaged, so he could not legally work -- so for nearly a year while we waited for paperwork to complete, he ran the domestic duties in the house and helped me with anything he could possibly take off my plate.  When his paperwork cleared and he went to work full time, it took us less than a year to decide we both preferred it when he was at home, and his added income wasn't enough to make it worthwhile.   We changed our plan and he quit his job and career and we haven't looked back.

What's the difference between a male wife and a house-husband?

Six - of one, half a dozen of the other - Foot

SweetDommes -> RE: Does anyone else here seek a male wife? (2/28/2008 7:18:47 AM)

Have a few that we're talking to.  One from here and one from another site.  Was talking to a couple of others from here, but ...like so many others, they just kind of went *poof!*

As for the two that are still around - one is sweet, we have things to talk about, and he's hot (he's the one from this site)... the one from the other site is sweet, cute, and he and I had a serious discussion about what happened to the characters of Harry Potter after the final battle LOL  Talk about a couple of nerds *giggles* it was fun.

Hello.

I have been away from this site for a while.  Lo and behold when I come back I see this thread.  I just married my malewife last week! : )  We have been together for a few years and we are still developing our Dom/sub relatinoship.  We have agreed however, that he is the wife, doing the wifely duties and generally making sure my life is easier.  I do work outside of the home, he does not.  I have found him to be quite adaptable and he now does all the laundry and cleaning.  I still cook, but we are going to be working on that! I find that because I am feminizing him, he is much more into being the manwife then before.  Just our expereince.

I'm still waiting to find out what the difference is between a male wife, and a house husband.

The latter has been around for four or five years now, also called stay-home husbands, but "male wife" seems to be fairly new to the scene. My question is entirely is there a difference, and if so, what? Or is it just different terminology for the same thing (so called "word kink").

Anyone up to answer?

The male wife wears really nice lingerie?

Not sure what the difference is, myself.

TermsConditions -> RE: Does anyone else here seek a male wife? (3/8/2008 5:28:55 PM)

"House husband" seems to be more conventional and used in the popular press interchangeably with "stay at home husband." A quick Google search supports this observation.

Prior to this thread I had never seen the term "male wife." Again consulting the Google, here are the top 4 responses for a search for "male wife."

"Later, my male/wife changes into a sexy baby doll nightie and performs..."

"He's my bitch! Why go for a sugar daddy when you can have a bitch to serve you? Two women explain how they bullied older men into marriage and a life of ..."

"The Man Who Was a Woman and Other Queer Tales of Hindu Lore"

And the possible origin of the term: "he best of Craigslist: I want a Male Wife." http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/sfo/16346869.html

Funny stuff.

To sum up, Lady H nailed it.

With the 'Nilla perspecitive, this has been

My reason for not using the term "house husband" is because that term implies that they will be a stay at home member of the family and not work outside the home.  Whereas the term male wife can be a bit more open - and in our case, will include at least a part time job.

Okay... so... how does that differ from just having a submissive or slave husband?

Who said it did?  It's been explained that this is just another phrase for it - one that we happen to like.

Fair enough then - which is what I was asking. It just did not seem to tie in with the "Does anyone else ..." since I would think that for dominant women a submissive or slave husband would be a common desire, just as the reverse is true for dominant men desiring a submissive or slave wife. Therefore I wanted to confirm my understanding of what was being discussed.
