I dont think you are anti-gay.  I do think you are projecting your beliefs onto the rest of America, many of which may not agree with you.

The opinions of this site do NOT necessarily represent the voice of mainstream America..as much as many would wish.

America may not be ready to change everything with one candidate yet and have a Black Lesbian in office, that might be a wee bit too radical.

you think? As soon as a candidate runs for Presidency then perhaps I might give the notion of acceptance by America some credence.

However, thats an extreme. However if a gay man were to run who stood on good platforms, and didnt find it necessary to announce to the public in general that he was gay he might be better than his opponent for the job.

Do you really believe that the public would not find out if they did not announce? Seriously now...

You would rather go with smeone who was a weaker candidate and had less to offer the country just becasue he was straight?

Not saying that..but many will.

I feel the same about anyone who runs. I am not interested in the special interest groups they have behind them since the oil companies and whatnot throw around a lot more money to influence the candidate they decide to back and buy a blind eye to things far more than any gay rights organization ever well.

I would believe that sort of thinking is on the fringe element of society not the mainstream

I want soeone in office who will serve the countries interests.  Right now, I dont feel like the current president is doingthat, and if it takes a gay man to get us back on track, I'll be the first in the voting booths.  If it takes a woman to get us back on track, same thing.  Black, white, green, orange... I dont care.  Get the contry back where it is, and whatever else you have in the background as your personal life can stay that way.

That would be nice but public acceptance will not have it

So, based on your argument that the founding fathers wouldnt want a gay leader, how do you justify voting for a female?

So do you blindly follow everyone else or have you made a decision to stand on your own two feet and do what you feel is right?

Actually I had an excellent gay dentist  down on the Hill in DC that was recommended by My late gay boss/friend.

as far as gay culture being shoved down your throat- change the channel. there are over 200 channels.... or better yet- cut the cable as i have.

The remote gets a frequent workout and go through many of them

I have no need to be politically correct.

so that really goes against your principle thinking of what the Founding Fathers originally written.

Come to think of it were there any black Founding Fathers ?

Have any of the DNA testings recently tracked any of the heritage of current known blacks back to roles of leadership such as presidents or monarchs?

From what I have heard from interviews many well known black celebrities have been surprised to find that their percieved mixture of Native American influence was actually that of European decent.

Many had abandoned tracing any roots back to origins of Africa because of the slave trade.

you certainly have a way using the double standard for your political thinking. in one hand you claim this country isn't ready for a bi/gay/black/woman president

It still is not ready

(because you have yet to show any justified reason why based on the US Constitution)

TheConstitution has nothing to do with the perception of the American people and decisions made.

and in the other hand, by your own admission you have and will vote for a woman.  it shouldn't matter what race, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, etc our president is as long as he/she's does the job they're elected to do.

Bingo! you are finally correct on something

what if (for hypothectical purposes) Hillary does win the presidency,

Then I will get to have her sign another shirt to go with the one I did for her husband.

are you going to pack up and move to a more male-dominant type of country

and why would I do that? and where might this be?

who believe a woman's place is in the house but not the White House or are you going to accept her as the leader and commander in chief of this nation?

I think you may need to re-read what has already been said but thanks for posting.

I agree with DV, about what the posted topic. I'm trying to teach My children to be loving and if society starts singling out gay's then what is that showing them? Society at times singles out blacks and other nationalities. It makes Me ill to know that. I'm not prejudiced and hate reading about others being singled out because of thier race, sex, religion or lack of. I wish we would just all get along. As far as what the forefathers wrote, it's suggested if you ask Me. It's not stone, it sucks to actually sit here and think, what if a gay is elected president, that that would cause a ruckus? That's absurd. There is nothing wrong with it, I know some gays are more stable and functional than some hetero's for crying out loud. It's about expressing yourself not repressing.

Do you want you children to be taught gay values in school before you have the chance or someone else has the chance to teach their family values at an appropriate time?

Society allows people to single out others as it began with the desentitiation of seeing the Viet Nam war in their homes at dinner time.

For many kids they have no concept of what pain really is when some one is shot...to them it s just a video game....not the horror...not the loss of a loved one...not the anguish...

Society is so pussy whipped right now it lets wanna be has beens like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton stir up the fire...

If it wan't for inflaming others they would just be ignored as they have both lost the power and the glory of the actual roots of Black Rights...just as much of a joke is another has been political activist Marion Barry....and don't eeven get Me started on Elenor Homes Norton...seems they all should join Jimmy Carter and build homes for Humanitat.

no freedom of speech means just that. If you agree with the person or not they have a right to their opinion and to voice it. The danger is that people who habor deep seated predjuices are driven underground where they can do more harm than good.

Do you feel that a gay person should be the President of The United States?

I do not.

It goes against everything the Unted States and the Founding Fathers established and outlined in their writings.

Ross
©º°¨¨°º©

Original Post, was written as your opinion. And now you are painting the discussion as if it is about what "America" is ready for.

Let's examine the OP.

You wrote...
Do you feel that a gay person should be the President of The United States?

You answered...
I do not.

It goes against everything the Unted States and the Founding Fathers established and outlined in their writings.

So, why are you bringing up the citizens of the US in the later pages, when the OP was about your view that, YOU DO NOT FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A GAY PRESIDENT. At least that is what you said.

Then you went on to give a reason for that... which is "It goes against everything the Unted States and the Founding Fathers established and outlined in their writings."

If your intention was to have a general debate about the views of the generic US populace and if they are read for a gay president, it was blatantly absent in the OP. The only thing present was, You don't want a Gay president, because it's against the founding fathers wishes.

Okay, that's great, it's an opinion post. What's the point? You shared your opinion with the world, didn't back it up. And the only question you asked was if your fellow posters wanted a gay president which most answered, and some attacked you for not wanting a gay president.

You wiggle the topic around in between to act like it was a general inquiry, but it wasn't stated as such. It was stated as a definitive statement that YOU don't want a Gay President.

There was nothing else there, so why are you confused that people are saying they'd vote for a Gay president, when that is what you asked. You asked for individuals opinions. Not a discussion.

I think you should start another thread written appropriately for the question you are now answering from(General populace isn't ready for gay president), instead of expecting everyone to drift with you as you go from the specific Opinion you hold, to that of the general population.
