If someone was of particularly viscious mind could you take those suckers that grow on rose bushes and have thorns and cane someone's butt with them?

I have caned and been caned with rose bush canes without and with thorns. Is is one of life's little sweet pleasures.

Well the suckers are like rose stems but big and thick, and they grow out of the ground part of the rose:) they're not wood.

No, they aren't wood. They are just the right thickness in my opinion (I am a fan of the thin switch like cane over the heavy cane -- something about the whistling sound).

As I said, I know them well. I had a lover who had a rosebush in his front yard. The neighbours probably thought we were nuts when we would be in it and I'd exclaim "Ooooh! Cut that nasty one".

And they are nasty even without the thorns. But with the thorns, they are excruciating.

ahhhhhhh the cane...My favorite instrument. Could I use a rose switch on a sub...OH HELL YES!!! Have I??? honestly, no. I also like the thin canes better that a thick walking cane sort of thing. It IS the whistling sound it makes just before contact that adds to the session for this One.

I've never tried roses canes, they sound very interesting. My Master however has a brussel sprout stalk cane. There not too vicious, nice for a warm up though.

Has anyone had experience with birch, now that is an experience you must try.
The birch cane was given as a punishment tool in Uk school in the 50's 60's.

I feel compelled to point out that in many countries the care of rose bushes involves all types of pesticides which can sit on the branches for some time. If the residue of these chemicals enter the bloodstream you can be in for some very very nasty infections and blood poisoning.

Sorry 'bout that.

Actually we don't use pesticides on our bushes sept once in a great great while, because of black leaf disease na phids.

and of course you'd cut the suckers for use off before spraying if they's your own bushes.

A friend of ours used to make these (dang...she closed her fetish business). Her husband grew the roses and listened to the neighbors curious comments as to why he staked them up and let them grow so tall....grin

After cutting they let them dry slowly then lightly sanded the straight sections. Two coats of polyurethane were then applied.

They had trouble keeping those in stock!

i have seen them used, in fact i have some on order lol, such a lovely form of blood play, but watch out for the flick flick flick of tiny droplets, so hard to clean off some surfaces, yes FP there is pleasure in them for those W/whom can find and enjoy it.

I actually saw rose branches used as a cane at a play party a while back. They had lacquered the canes beforehand. He had maybe a half dozen canes and each one only got used once. The reason for that is because each time she was whacked with the cane the thorns would puncture her skin (several would remain embedded in her skin, which he would then yank out [:D]) and according to the play party rules once there is blood the implement cannot be swung again to avoid the blood becoming airborne. If you were playing in private with a fluid bonded partner tihs probably wouldn't be a concern. It looked like a heck of a lot of fun from where I was standing [;)]

i am glad my One does not read these boards often. *groan* just last Monday, He was saying the same thing about that whistle....

ok, on the note of educating myself... would these generally break the skin? (without thorns?) or is that with a prolonged whipping, or successive whippings?

whoof, this is definitely one of those... "i guess i am not THAT much of a masochist" moments.

Did she leave the thorns in?
Did you receive a caning with one? If so, how did it feel?

I've tied people with fresh rose bush parts, but I never thought of using them as a cane. Now I'm eager to try. I wonder what a bundle of six or seven would feel like...

If you enjoy the lovely feel of thorns one could try a branch from a bougainvillea.

When I have cleared them out of my house I find it difficult to avoid
infections, though.

Stinging nettles are fun...
