underlimited -> myspace for Dommes? (4/17/2007 9:28:16 PM)

It's interesting how the everyone I know started creating myspace profile. I'm sure we all know (and perhaps even have) people who have myspace. It's totaly a cool idea.
Anyhow,
someone came up with the idea of myspace for Dommes. It's called (www.mydommespace.com). This is exactly what I thought would be a crazy idea. Anyhow, it's just growing now, but it's pretty cool... it has some pretty good features you can't find here. The only downturn is that it's kinda slow...
Anyhow, I'm NOT trying to promote it, but I was curious to see what you think about this new 'expansion' of lifestyle? Is it more mockery of what the lifestyle is supposed to be all about, or is it a better way (and easier way) for people to access and express themselves?
Would you encourage creation of such websites, or keeping it more bound to underground or exclusive community?

BeachMystress -> RE: myspace for Dommes? (4/18/2007 4:44:55 AM)

I've been a member of MySpace since 2004. They've never censored either my or my husband's profile or blogs. Since I already use the female owned and operated FemDom Societies photo albums (hosted by FemDomFactor) to freely post whatever X-rated photos I wish, I doubt I'll be joining either. Especially since one of them has a thirty day limit on inactivity. Considering I went through six weeks without a computer earlier this year, it wouldn't be worth my time taking a chance on losing everything I'd done. It's a cute idea, but since MySpace doesn't discriminate against the lifestyle, I'm not sure why we need to segregate ourselves.

Yes, and they look very much like three BDSM dating sites that I've seen. I suspect there is some sort of tutorial somewhere on how to make this type of site or someone has made the code to do so free.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: myspace for Dommes? (4/18/2007 4:49:39 AM)

I know I dont exacty advertise in my MySpace page what I am into.  I dont want everyone of my vanilla friends, not to mention my younger brother, all his frends and Angel and all his vanilla friends seeing what I do behind closed doors. I am open to choice people, and that circle doesnt include everyone I know.
I dont know whether a page like that might be good, or might be more like a sideshow... I know myspace tends to draw a lot of pervy hey i wanna do you messages... give this time and I am sure it will too. Maybe thats part of the idea?

You are a lucky one, BeachMystress, MySpace closed my original account because they were not pleased with my contact box.  Apparently rope bondage is a big no-no for MySpace.

bowandserve -> RE: myspace for Dommes? (4/18/2007 5:01:34 AM)

I have a page on all of those. Funny thing is I found this site last and it is by far the best!

MySpace I have a page specifically for this and have never met anyone from it. I get lots of requests from all over for friends and if I'm not in the mood to look by the time I get back to it it can take awhile to sort through it all. Don't get a lot of real messages - lots of friend requests, bulletins, comments back and forth - it's like playtime more than anything.

MyDommeSpace is new and boring. Not much activity and certainly not a way to meet anyone.

MyDungeonSpace - same thing - and the exact same layout - I think they are the same company.

alt.com is wide open and no one real.

Although I haven't had any good experiences meeting anyone here (yet!) - and a lot of annoyances on top of that - it still is the best format, the boards are the most informative, and it's just straightforward.

*note the above are just a reflection of my own experiences and do not in any way condone or dismiss the use of any of the sites. the user is released from all liability

(I'll save my rant and frustration for another post... )

I don't have this problem, since I accidently outted myself to my family four years ago. (I sent them the wrong Amazon wish list. My Aunt called my Sister and asked here what all those odd books on my list were all about. Ooops!) I'm actually going to take my sister to the best of our local dungeons when she visits in May. (We aren't going to play in front of her, any more than I'd have sex or any other highly intimate act in front of her.) Our friends are also aware of and accepting of our lifestyle. I guess we're lucky.

I don't know what site has that 30 day thing, must be the domme one that I didn't join. As for the mydungeonspace one, I've been rather happy with how it is put together & run. I wish we had a tad bit more freedom in how we design our pages but other than that management/support address things very quickly & they are very personable.

As for the viewing of mydungeonspace profiles by non-members... there is an option that the user has to check in order to allow non-members the ability to view their profile. I believe mine is viewable to non-members but I have never tested this with a non-member.

I'm surprised, unless the photos showed nudity. Many people on MySpace have suggestive profiles and photos.
Such as:
http://www.myspace.com/mistresscyan
http://www.myspace.com/bullwhip57
http://www.myspace.com/rubberdoll
http://www.myspace.com/rubberduchess (even shows a nipple in one of her photos)
 http://www.myspace.com/biancabeauchamp
http://www.myspace.com/goddesssativa
http://www.myspace.com/morgan_la_rue (her photos show play piercing)
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=136049535
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=133123388
http://www.myspace.com/bud_hole
http://www.myspace.com/bound2tight
and way too many more to list..

Just use their search and put in "Dominatrix" "submissive" or other fetish terms and you'll find a whole host of kinky fellows. I'm not sure what to say since you lost your profile. Was it many years back? (Which is what? Four years in MySpace terms, since they're a fairly new site?) The only other thing I can think of is that someone specifically complained about your profile as offensive.

MySpace isn't really a hook up place. I suppose you could use it that way, but most of the people there aren't seeking partners. It does happen, however. One of my good friends met his lady love via a shared esoteric band on myspace. They're now planning their wedding.

When I first found CollarMe, there were all of 83 Dominant Women listed in California. After some great word of mouth advertising it took off and filled a much needed niche. (A year later there were over 450.)  Unfortunately, since that niche is now filled, unless those sites have a great PR person or offer something new, flashy and very cool, they're not likely to do overly well. However, sometimes it just takes time.

I don't think they are the same company, but rather that they've used the same tutorial or free code. I've seen the exact site layout with a few alterations on three BDSM dating sites. I know at least one of them is not associated with the sites we're discussing.

You are mistaken about this. I am one of the people seeking a submissive on alt, and I promise I am quite real. I'd offer to let you pinch me, but I'm not into cyberplay...*grins*

I know it is frustrating because a lot of the "subs" who contact you are looking to fill their own fantasy. But it is that way on EVERY site. I have gotten some good subs from each of the personals sites and I've dealt with hundreds of wanna bes, time wasters, idjits living in their folks basements, cheating married men and flat out liars. I'm sorry to say it comes with searching.

The thing I like best about alt are the chat rooms that are by state or area. (Free members are able to chat.) The Southern California one is full of people in the local scene. I don't know that is true of other areas.

I will agree with you. CollarMe is the best lifestyle site out there. I will also say that because it is free, I encounter a lot more males who are not quite ready to head to real time as with pay sites.

It is so frustrating to find a partner, no matter where you are looking! You keep hearing how many subs there are out there, and yet.. you can't seem to find one!  You may have better luck at a local munch or event. I tried to view your profile to give you some local links, but you have it turned off. You'll have to do your own research. Start with http://www.drkdesyre.com/meetppl/orgs/orgs.html Good hunting!

underlimited -> RE: myspace for Dommes? (4/18/2007 12:44:13 PM)

You're welcome all [:D]
Hmm... so many links, so many choices.....
What I like about myDomme space is that it's exclusively for Female Dominants and submissives. Kind of refreshing...

Though i do also agree that every site has a lot of 'fakers' to go through. From my experience, i've been 'reserved' by several Mistresses from collarme, yet i haven't met a single one of them and they all dissapeared sooner or later. Myspace i haven't really tried... because it's pretty hard to browse through all the people to find kinky ones....but the number of 'fakes' is extremely high there, especially profiles related to sex or kink.

Most successful way i found in finding a Mistress has been personal ads on places like craigslist.org
Though the drawback is that many replies come from those who have Dominant personality, but are not necessarily associated with the lifestyle.

Collarme, so far, the best illuminates what the lifestyle is supposed to be about.

It might become a problem though, if we all have tons of webpages to which to dispearse ourselves, and in the end You have to stick with what You have, or to broaden Your search, You'd have to join all 20, 50, 100 webpages. i'm always for a "one place for all". At least, all these websites should combine profiles in a way.....or provide access to all with one account. That's at least my idealist way of seeing it... lol

HutchGarahl -> RE: myspace for Dommes? (4/18/2007 12:52:46 PM)

I have a spot on myspace. Got into that really due to my kids. They thought it was a fun way to keep in touch. :P Silly kids, yahoo works great for keeping in touch. I've gotten friend requests from people who have that locked profile thing, gotta download a viewer thing to get into the profile because of the content, but the stupid thing never works. I've sent messeges to the people about it, but so far no response.

I went to mydommespace last night...looks ok, a bit small...but organized. Might be worth hanging around and giving it a chance to flourish more.

darkinshadows -> RE: myspace for Dommes? (4/18/2007 1:25:41 PM)

I am surprised that myspace closed you down.  There are alot of BDSM peeps on myspace.  Even places like TG and BL have a page.

I used to have a problem with my host for images, but that was more a copyright issue as it took me a while to convice them they were my sketches and I owned them.

Peace and Rapture

I agree with you, I'm on this site every day (mostly)- the mydungeonspace I only check every couple of weeks
