University 'warned about gunman' A professor who taught a student whose gun rampage at Virginia Tech left 32 people dead says she warned university officials about his behaviour.

Lucinda Roy said she became concerned after Cho Seung-hui wrote disturbing pieces for a creative writing class.

Nigerian army attacks Islamists The Nigerian army has launched an offensive to evacuate armed Islamic militants from the outskirts of the northern city of Kano.

Heavy shooting can be heard in Panshekara where Islamists, known as the Taleban, hold an area of the town.

I'd think it would not have been too hard for Va Tech to at least have seen to it that this disturbed student who just killed 32 peple got some on-campus counselling.

I mean, in most Residence halls when I was in college, if someone wasn't sleeping, or was having problems with studying etc. it was almost an automatic recommendation from the Residence hall assistants, as I remember. I will not be suprised at all, if Va Tech is sued by parents of some dead kids.

I'll have to tell my sister about the new Tolkein series, she is a huge fand and will go nuts and run right out and buy it.

No comment on the last story (I don't feel I have enough background to have a well-informed opinion).

Sir thanks for the links!! i feel sorry for that professor at VT. Unfortunately i don't think there was enough in the writings to show an actual threat being made.
